as above, ive not much experience with the blacktop, but looking into fitting one to my vtr...

what's involved in the swap? ive got a 90bhp silvertop running standalone... do the blacktops run a distributor?

head is the same just it runs solid rockers you will need to get a 106 1.4 xr fuel rail so you can keep using the fat injectors and keep the single fuel inlet bit ill dig out part nbumber for you

nah runs old style coilpack and ht leads which you will need to fit aswell the mk2 coilpack may fit but not tried best bet is to fit one onto spare head and see if it all clicks ok

hmmm, more moneys, thought this would be the case, there wont be anywhere to bolt the pack down on the blacktop either, not sure id be able to fit the old coilpack on with the boost pipes etc in aswell...

why not just rebuild yours? or is this the mega skimmed one? if its a 90bhp head i may have one still you can have for postage to play with

its shuggles' one, its a big valve, and blacktop runs solid lifter so would be a bonus for rev limit... but doesnt look like its gonna be a feasable option unless i can run the mk2 coilpack etc, as wont cot me more and wont have to fuck about trying to get it all in place and fit up

i would say if you got a spare coilpack see if it will fit the blacktop head best case to test

In regards to the coil pack, the silvertop one will physically fit on there and it will run
I did this when I fitted a s1 Rallye head, to my silvertop vtr.
But the car had a slight missfire, the car had diagnostics (good expensive kit, not a code reader) on several times and nothing came up, all live date was fine.

    Changed plus still no different

Switched to leads and old type coilpack and problem went

So on that bases I'd say chances are your current coil pack won't run properly. This is just what I found on my car.

I do have a coilpack spare, along with the plug needed that fits. But with the plug I cut the wires back as I could, so it actually has the original 90bhp silvertop ones on there which should make re wiring a bit easier, cause when I did it we tried using numbers on the plugs etc etc but nothing matched lol so just did trial and error in the end then when finished and got the right combination I just deleted all the fault codes.

If you fancy the coil and plug let me know, I also have a set of magnecor 8.5mm ht leads, coil and leads have covered about 6k I'd say and were bought new. 65posted for the lot if you fancy it. Drop me pm if your interested.
