williamsvts will fit your cams and time then to basic spec, then you can go to various places for a remap dependant on your budget

As above, williamsvts is the man to speak to.

I've been looking into this, as said it depends on your budget. If you've not got a lot of cash you can have the standard ECU remapped by taking it to somewhere like Chipwizards in Rochdale. However there are limits to the standard ECU and although you will be fine with fast road cams (PH3s/708s) and all the normal breathing mods, if you decide to do more in the future like uprated internals, headwork, forced induction or bodies you'll need to upgrade to standalone management (OMEX, Predator ECU for example)

Standalone systems have a much wider range of adjustment for different mods so are essentialy future proof, however they cost a lot more, in the region of £5-600 for the unit plus the cost of getting it mapped.

I might be a bit wrong on some details so feel free to correct me, but this is my understanding. Personally I want to go the induction, 421 mani, decat and ph3 cams route so I'll be going to chipwizards for my remap when the time comes, then spending the money I save on properly sorting out the brakes and suspension so hopefully I end up with a nicely set up well handling track weapon! That's the plan anyway

Roughly how much do Chipwizards charge to remap a standard ECU after Camming?

    Cheers

Think its roughly 500£ now, was less but prices have gone up iirc.

On a side note he can remap std ecu for bodies also.

Cheers mate, thought it would be around the £500 mark..

Didn't know he could remap a standard Ecu on TB's though? presumably it would the same price to do that too?

    Cheers again!

    Yes same price.

I wouldn't have a standard ecu mapped for bodies.

Maybe just a cammed vts but not bodies.

Really? Bugger! I was expecting £250/£300. For £500 as said, you're not far off OMEX or Predator standalone for that kind of money! That might have spun my plans a bit, hmm.

even if your on a budget itd still go pred minimum, for not much more your getting a standalone system, better features and mapping, software to log and dignaose problems, aswell as being able to go to any mapper you choose as you have the software

and thats before you get to the benefits of the ecu itself over a standard management system, then youve got the resale value of said system shld you choose to return your car to standard, youll get FA back for a mapped standard ecu....and youd still have to buy another stock one

and once youve got the system you can get tweaks and maps for cheap, as oppose to paying £500 everytime you want a remap for whatever choose..

ps mate, i know lad in jesmond who will map preds, he cahrged £200 for my first map, and have had 2 remaps for £80 each

but he also fits and maps omoex as hes an omex stockist if you preferred that system

If you buy a Pred new they come with free mapping anyway? For the first owner anyway. And yeah the Omex system looks good and there's probably loads of others but I'm not clued up on them at all. To be honest I'll probably just wait until I've got the cash for the cams and see if anythings going on a group buy.

not the 3 plug, but mapping isnt a massive charge, onll a little extra

and we live quite far from andy, so would have to cover fuel costs aswell, be easier for him to get it mapped up here if he needed be

I might just concentrate on sorting out my brakes and suspension then and spend the money on extra track days. Cams and a remap can happen a bit later maybe!

if the car is for track its probs best spending money elsewhere first,

well set up standard power will be awesome fun on track, learn the car and how to drive it, then when your ready up the power, defo brakes and suspension first though
