Engine Management Light

  1. #1
Hiya.. I only just joined as I bought a Saxo VTS on Monday..
A few folk have told me not to get a Saxo as their "s***" but I didn't listen.. However, when I was driving to work this morning, the engine management light started flashing.. I stopped the car and turned it off to see if it would go off (I ain't got a clue about that sorta stuff!!) it didn't go off but stopped flashing, I drove it the rest of the way but it's still on.. Doesn't seem to be driving any different..
I don't want to ask my boyfriend or mates/family who know things about cars as I'm scared I get "I told you so" lol.. Don't suppose anyone on here could help me??

I also noticed the stereo was beeping every so often today which it never has before.. Is that anything to do with the light or just a coincidence?

Your best bet would be to get it on the diagnostics. My engine management light is on due to the exaust but there is no real reason for it to be on. Bit of a mystery Lol

Yeah mine is om because of the exhaust

Get a garage to run diags, dont pay more than £30

My reason for it being on due to the exhaust is ebcuase there is supposed to be 2 lambda sensors, one pre cat and one post cat... It's decat so the sensors are reading the same oxygen levels and the light is on to tell me that something is wrong..

I had this a couple of months ago turned out to be my lambda sensor and cat went at the same time, normally if theres no change to the driving experiance then I'd go for lambda or cat. Is your car drinking fuel more?
