opinions please

    ok, im looking at buying a backbox 2morow and im wanting it to have a raspy/rally sound to it.

    suggestions please,

    forgot to mention,
    i wont be de-catting.

    i know my car wont pass the MOT without a CAT but will the CAT hinder the sound and performance of the new backbox?

    from what ive read the saxport or supersprint sound raspy. However, i think weather you have a decat or not plays a big part in it. Aswell as weather you have a standard, silenced or race tube centre section.

    my car is completely stock at the moment, however i cant see the CAT under the car so it must be up near the manifold.

    and seeing how ive got a stock car will my centre tube be silenced? there does seem to be a buldge in the centre pipe.

    sorry but im new to all this.

    Yes if its standard exhaust then it will be silenced. the cat will either be under the car in pretty much the middle or inside the downpipe in the manifold.
    If your after the raspy sound id buy a saxport or supersprint backbox. if your not happy with the noise then buy a race tube centre section. If your still not happy buy a new manifold which will obvs remove the cat at the same time

    supersprint, kam racing or saxsport are the raspiest in my opion.

    also, to remove the backbox its just a case of loosening the clamp around the pipe and pulling it off, right?

    Yeah loosen clamp, slide box off of rubber hangers and re-fit new box making sure you've got it lined up properly when you tighten it back up

    then like Tepson said, if needs be change the centre pipe and then the manifold, again if needs be.
