Cheap Induction kits any good?

    Just curious about this...
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Citroen-Sa...item1c18b369c2

Is this likely to be any good bearing in minfd price.
Not too bothered about performance as its for the wife's 1.4 automatic box anyway! but will I see any benefits in getting the engine to breathe any better etc or just a waste of cash?

    Cheers for any opinions

Oops just spotted its for a VTS ..but if I can get similar for a standard 99 plate..see above!

waste of time mate, all it will do is draw in hot air. i had one of these on my vtr and it made it sluggish, deffinately ran better on standard induction

It'll sound nicer, that's about it. If you just want extra noise then they're fine but if you want a real performance increase you'll need a fully enclosed system like the Raceland, Simota or an enclosed filter like the BMC CDA.

Isn't the standard one a cold air intake? ? Cold = good.

i have one in mine, noise is great but performance theres to many mixed views, its open ended so yeah does suck in hot air but i notice a increase in rev range of 3500-4000 with it, my sax when i got it had a k&n cone just strapped to the throttle body so maybe thats why mine feels different as its no dout better than that k&n. iv put a cold feed and it goes straight to centre of the cone and im gonna get a heat shield to put on the side of the engine side of the cone. i had the same one on a punto i had and it also made a similar difference to that and that used to have standard air box. i recomend it as a cheep kit. i find its better in mpg to but as i said in the sax iv not had standard box in it at all.
my mate had a saxo same engine and mine was slightly faster. he had an enclosed induction which is the most recommended. but the case of it was slightly damaged. he aslo had same engine punto with standard box when i had mine with this induction and i was faster then to. maybe just his driving though lol. all in all makes engine bay look nicer, sounds good and in my experience has made a difference in power and mpg but only slightly. as said i dunno how well the standard box works as iv never had one lol

same here. mate must be slower driver than me lol. as i said though on the sax iv never had standard box on it since day one.
the punto i felt same rev range difference and the mpg increased slightly. iv not had problem with the kit but i only had it on both cars as its what was in my price range. when i get enough cash il probs get a better kit. but im happy with this as it is atm

at first when i was browsing ebay the standard box was dearer than this kit and with it doing well on punto = another reason i got it on the sax lol. also the k&n that was on the sax had a cold air feed that was way to long was up and down allover the place before it got to the cone, also the cone had a hole at the back (suspect was for oil feed) that was i unaware of as there was an oil feed filter on. so no wonder this £40 kit feels better on it.
i wouldnt mind getting a closed induction like raceland mind. probs just save for one of them instead of going standard as i like the bay to look nice too lol.

im sticking with the standard filter setup on my furio, it does me nicely and it works.

would be tempted by an open filter but forced air is much better for the engine, would rather listen to my exhaust anyways lol.

this open filter has a nice noise.quite a gutsy one, also when you let go of throttle at the right rev it hisses like a turbo lol. which is quite a nice touch lol.
