has anyone any experience with these in a vtr? Ive been looking at the kits for a wile but cant seem to find much info on them. Im looking to build my engine up bit by bit as its my daily atm. Also i will be keeping the engine n/a and going down the carbs route as ive a set of 40's from my old nova.

#2biggest mistake you will ever make would be fitting carbs --
will never pass an mot and the cost to change chokes ,mains ,air correction jets+emulsion tubes will be dearer than mapping throttle bodies+ there is no room to fit dcoe type carbs in a saxo --not enough space behind to fit correct length trumpets,
if want to go carbs then you need to use downdraft type IDF or DCNF --but still not the right choice
stroket kit --yes thats not a problem around £1700.
but you will still ned to altervfuelling and igntion --so get an ecu +t/bodies1 user thanked this post: -
#3cheers for the advice there mate. i knew it would of been a tight fit with the webbers so theres that idea out the window lol. is the £1700 just for the kit? seems very dear for what it is tbh but thats just me.

#4you say in your first post, you have been looking into the kits...and now complaining about the price ?!Quote:cheers for the advice there mate. i knew it would of been a tight fit with the webbers so theres that idea out the window lol. is the £1700 just for the kit? seems very dear for what it is tbh but thats just me.
sure makes sense? -
#5"dreamer"
new cnc crank shaft +forged conrods + forged pistons
sounds good price to me1 user thanked this post: -
#6Ive been looking into the kits to see what gains i could get. On their website they dont give out a price for the kit and tbh the price isnt really a problem all i was saying is its a bit dear for what you get going by other engines ive built.
-
#7what price can you buy forged cranks on other engines for then? Thats the main bulk of the cost.
It was the DP Performance kit they were selling but you cannot get the cranks anymore. Probably why they have no price listed. -
#8Most engines 1100 will get you a set of forged pistons and rods just...Quote:Ive been looking into the kits to see what gains i could get. Then a forged crank again 1k +
Remember these are forged parts and not must cheaply made oe replacements. -
#9sounds a good price to me

#10Does the crank 100% need to be forged? Or is it just for the longer stroke on the saxo?
-
#11its a bargain that stroker kit.
-
#12you need a longer stroke crankshaft. The standard one is 82mm off the top of my head. The ZRP stroker kit we are selling has a stroke of 89mm. I dont believe there is a cast iron crankshaft available in the range to fit as standard so custom billet steel is the only way really. Theres not the volume of sales to make it worth creating cast versions but at the same time you get a far stronger crank.

#13Cheers for clearing that up dude, that's what I guessed.Quote:you need a longer stroke crankshaft. The standard one is 82mm off the top of my head. It's a shame no other models fit, good thing the m54 3.0 crank fits the m52 eh

#14sorry to be a bit of a noob, but what are the gains to a stroker kit? ive looked at them but never knew what they actually achieve?
-
#15more power, stroker kits increase the stroke lenght which incresase the CC, there two way increase CC one in bore dia, other is stroke lenghts. that the basic of it.
-
#16yh more power but alters the characteristcs of the engine, alot more torque from a stroker kit, but expensive to say the least...
