throttal body’s cams and remap

    Right I am looking to go throttal body’s cams and remap but getting put off with what people are saying you wont get much bhp, so what I am looking for is people with throttal body’s and cams setup what they got I was told 170 at the wheel you won’t get that with this setup. It will be good to hear what you got, and were you pleased with what you got.

    Throttle bodies...

    170 at the wheels with out alot of work no chance.

    140 at the wheels with a set of cams and bodies in reality (if lucky)

    Forged pistons + jp4 head and ph4 set up should see you at 150-160 atw depending on rolling variables.

    If you want to go chasing figures there is no point going for ITB's. But it will improve the way the car pulls and the sound is awesome !

    i think i will get a super charger kit with Forged Pistons & Steel Rods Set if i need that power.

    My mate off 106 owners has a 106 gti with Newman ph3 cams and AT power bodies plus remap and he has:

    161.1 Bhp Atf & 140.7 Atw

    This should give you a rough idea of the figures achievable with those mods.

    What were the secrets to your 198bhp beast if you don't mind me asking?

    Serious headwork and internals?

    they doo cos its a bigger figure ,but when all said and done its only wheel bhp that makes it go and its so easy to give silly transmission losses to increase the flywheel figure.
    so the wheel figure is what really matters and thats the only true figure( most accurate) that can be measured on a car -flywheel figures are a caluclation not what is measured by dyno

    The greatest gains are usually in the mid range with throttlebodies. They make a significantly faster car even if the peak figure does not seem special

    so you still can have a fast car with throttlebodies i seen the 1s you sell Jenvey throttle body kit and catcams 708 with a remap dont no if that would work well

    Most 708 cars with bodies do go very well nice range of power and a good delivery

    I made 163 at wheels 186 fly with a lot more than just cams and bodies


    Also stop saying a remap youll need a new ecu (predator at least) to get a decent map on the car
    im running an omex on mine mapped by northampton motorsport

    Somrthing like a pred is a cheaper option and plug and play though

    Unless you are going to venture a bit deeper into the engine, 708's or ph3's are about the limit of what cams you could use as i understand. If set up well with those itb's your car would be a fair bit faster, even if the bhp figure isnt quite what you were expecting.

    Ok I will stop saying remap lol yes I was thinking about another ecu do you need another loom or do you keep your old 1.

    Predator ecu is plug and play....uses existing wiring loom.

    Other aftermarket ecu's tend to require custom looms or major alterations.

    is the predator for a 3 plug ecu or 1 plug thought they were only 1 plug

    Its now available for the 3 plug vts engine.

    That’s good did not know they did yes m8 i am looking into tbh that’s why i am asking people on here just to get some advice. Had a look can not see any 3 plug predator ecu for sale is it still in the making

    I sent Andy a email about the predator and he has 3 plug ecu I will pop over some time to get 1 when I got things going he cam map from home or were he works

    I've been chatting with Andy for past few days and I'm getting the 1 plug predator off him end of this month as I can't cope with the car keep cutting out all the time due to cams and will be having it re mapped when I get there and then when I get the bodies will just have it mapped again.

    I'm traveling to Andy 2 hours each way but I'm sure it will be worth it.
    Iirc mate you might find it hard to get someone to map it as I don't believe many companies map the predators, could be wrong but might be worth looking into it or speaking with Andy.

    I was looking at the jenveys to start with mate but with what I've heard from people the trumpets are too long and is apparently hard to get them fitted.
    Also I've seen alot of people get rid of the jenveys and go for the AT power bodies.

    There's several places that sell them mate.
    I'm just going to shop around when I'm ready to purchase them and see where's the cheapest.

    i took a motor that was running at powers and got a considerably better torque curve aswell as higher figures on both torque and bhp from my webbers (proper 45s like jenveys)

    the at powers work as a bolt on budget kit but if your after a good set of curves then imo a proper setup will give a better result

    and you can buy lots of different trumpet sizes and get filters on
    at powers can only run filters on there shortest trumpets as far as im aware

    AT Power throttle bodies are a great bit of kit. I'm not going to deny it lol
    It is simple to fit and set up and the price is fantastic.

    The Jenveys are a pain in comparison, but anyone competent with simple mechanics can build them. Even me and I didnt use instructions
    The benefit of the Jenveys is the better angle. They angle higher up so it helps give plenty of options with trumpet length. If you are prepared to chop the bulkhead a little you can get over 100mm trumpets on which is great for this engine.
