Make sure you have a nice thick pair of overalls...probably end up needing them when you have to fix something on the saxo! Just kidding, as said before a good service and make sure the anti-freeze is up to scratch

    Get some snow tyres.

    and underseal the car.

not engine related, but very useful in the winter.

these are meant to be good, they may be pricey, but you can take them off after winter and store them for next year, depending on miles you could probs get 3 years out of them, which is value for money imo

I will definitely be buying some of these, My car couldnt get up the hill to my house after the heavy snow fall last year so it got left at the bottom over a mile away from my house and i had to walk home

I always carry loads of clothes in the boot just in case my car comes over all french

    +1!!

I have some vredesteins, coming up for my third winter on them (plus one track day )

They will probably last me 4 or 5 tbh, and they are brilliant!

If you buy winter tyres be careful which ones you buy, some are actually crap in the snow.

I'd recommend Nokian tyres, i used them on my old BMW 330d and didn't get stuck once, Vredestein SNOWTRAC 3 are also a good option.

My VW Caravelle will be getting Nokian winter tyres this year.

In germany, if you dont have winter tyres fitted and you are in a crash that is not your fault. It is your fault becuase you dont have winter tyres

Im looking at getting a set of white steelies with winter tyres

Also a good battery, cold weather will murder one thats knackered

    to be honest,

my sax was perfect in the winter last year, and she saw some pretty bad snow/ice here in wales at times.

where big 4x4's and trucks etc were getting stuck the sax just spun her way over the top of the snow past everyone, never got stuck once

only problem i had was my windscreen washer fluid froze a couple of times.

anti freeze your car up and thats about all you need really aslong as its running well to start with and yur tyres arent bald. lol.
