Engine/performance help

Hey there, I was wondering if thier are any cheap/easy/free mods I can do to keep my engine nice and healthy.
When I say cheap I dont mean like £5 or whatever I can afford upto £100ish (yes to some of you that isnt alot but it is to me)
Just simple things like "buy a new pipe for this" or "clean that" or "buy this for that because it does this" if you get what I mean, I just want a nice and healthy engine.
Stuff for example I have heard that a ECU cover is a good idea, not to keep it healthy but just to protect it
    Any ideas?

What does that do then? Is it easy to get to/remove if you need to? What cleaning equipment do I need? Anything special? cheers

Cleaning the throttle body/icv will make sure you are idling correctly and got a better air flow from the air box.

Some carb cleaner will do it.

Search cleaning icv and throttle body.

I bought some 'Wynn's Petrol System Treatment' on the weekend - about £12. Says on the packaging to put it in a full tank, but a garage advised me to run the tank low, pour the whole bottle in the tank, then fill it up with about £20 - £30's worth of V-Power or other high octane fuel, then give it a blast on the straights.

I've tried this in about 3 cars now and it's an absolute charm. MPG has gone up significantly since putting it in! Just nice to know it's keeping it clean

    This stuff:

I'm also interested in the answers in this thread, wouldn't mind knowing more ways to keep the engine healthy

Good service, decent oil, filter, plugs, flush the rad and refil with the correct mix!
Get it running its best before changing anything!
See when the cambelt needs doing.
