My car's issues

  1. #1
I have come to a decision that I need to get everything on my car sorted out ready for the winter period, so below ill list the problems and queries I'm having and if I could kindly ask you guys to help me out with fixes I'd be very grateful! So, here's whats going on:

    - The car had a new clutch fitted just before I got it, and the biting point on it has always been a bit too high up for my liking, is this normal for a new clutch?

    - While on the subject of the clutch, when it reaches the biting point, it knocks and the car jolts forwards

    - Car revs on its own (I believe this is the MAP sensor which I've already found for £20 just not bought one yet, any further help welcomed)

    - Knocking from the front while braking AND turning at the same time, at low speed, the driveshafts were replaced not that long ago, and i don't drive like an idiot so how can they be worn already?

    - The cooling fan makes the engine nearly stall when it kicks in

And thats just about all I can think of right now! Please help if you can

    Thanks in advance

You can adjust the clucth from the cable under the bonnet just above the gearbox, ur high reeving i dont think is map sensor when they go wrong the car has flat spots and judders but thats only from what i seen.

Worn clutch cable? Could of stretched.

Idle control valve? Could cause high reving and the problem when the fan cuts in. Also could be an air lock in your cooling system.

Front anti roll bar drop links could be worn, causing knocking?

These are just things at the top of my head lol, hope it helps

Hey thanks, Some of these things actually make sense now! Are there any other ways of telling if the clutch cable is stretched or if the idle control valve is at fault? And is there a guide on here for fitting/repairing any of these things as I cant find them

    Thanks

Take a look at this for the idle control valve mate http://www.saxperience.com/forum/sho...ght=idle+guide not too sure about the clutch cable though.

No worries . I'm not sure if there's a way to tell if the clutch cable has stretched, but I could be wrong. Your better off just getting a new one and using trial and error.

Okay thanks, I took the MAP sensor out today and took a look at it, and its covered in oil? I took some pictures as I don't know what im looking for

Heres the links to the pictures:

I thought maybe the oil could be due to the breather pipe? Could this mean it is blocked or something else?

    Thanks

With the knocking/jolting coming from your car don`t rule out a worn engine mount.
