VTR 3 plug to JP4S single plug

  1. #1
Going to be fitting one of these jp4s engine to my vtr.

I've read that ryanMt (sp) on here doe's loom splicing so that I can use the single plug ecu on my 3 plug loom.

What else will I need to source? Will the connectors on my 3 plug loom fit the newer jp4s engine/sensors?

Just want to make sure i've got everything so it can all be done in the same day.

Also will i need a fuel return as im going 8v to 16v? All confusing stuff, as it's the first engine swap.

crossover loom from a w reg vts mate

ahh, why what do I need off that loom? And will that be all i'd need to get it running?

Full loom swap?? or do they splice them together?

    Confused lol!

    full loom swap mate
eg. w reg mk2 sxo vts is single plug ecu

maybe a few sensors on engine will need changing

    Ok Thanks for advice!

I see the crossover loom is sought for, so is hard to come across.

Could i just change the entire loom? Considering my car's stripped anyway, would probably be less hassle than finding a crossover loom?

Or is that a really hard job lol?

The crossover loom and the 3 plug have the same connector but they do not interchange! Fitting one means half the car wont work.

If you did want to go that route you would have to swap the dash loom aswell.

Think the easiest option is to sell my single plug ecu, and buy a 2002 vts loom and 3 plug ecu.. and change a few sensors if the connectors don't match up.

    That should work right?

All you need to do is have the loom and ecu off the engine you have bought, and it will splice into the Mk2 loom. Ive done it i no it works.

Other option is as you said, buy a MK2 3 plug loom and ecu and swap some plugs about possibly

Yes that works fine, make sure you get the coilpack and injector loom from the 3 plug along with the sensors.

Theres a chance you will need to change the alternator depending on year aswell.

    Cheers for info!

Coilpack is brand new though, so rather change the connector if possible! If not, ill sell and buy a 3plug one.

And the alternator uses the washer/bolt type.. and 2002 use a 2pin plug, but i converted the one in the car atm, so I know i'll be able to do that on this one aswell!

Whilst you've commented, you got a 3 plug ecu+loom lying around?

Ta for input, but it came from a C2 VTS (JP4S) and altered to run single plug Saxo VTS management..

And the shell is a 3plug, so need to find a 2002 VTS 3 plug loom.. so it's plug and play, and i don't have to send the loom off to be spliced

The ecu reads off the alt so converting it isnt ideal. And you cannot upgrqde the coilpack only downgrade from 3 plug to single

Ahh okay, well I haven't had any problems with my alternator since I did it a year ago, so i'll just risk it. If it cause's any problems, i'll swap them over! Ta for the heads up though!

I'll just sell/swap the coilpack then!

Can you unlock 3-plug ecu's yet mate?

The single plug doesnt take into account the alt, the 3 plug does. Im not sure to what extent though so it might just work fine.

    No fraid not
