Any way to reduce noisy tappets?

#2dont rag the car form cold and use decent oil
worn rocker arms etc can cause tappets to be noisey even after tightening, i sometimes do them slightly more closed in this case, but doesnt always cure the prob
could also be the injectors, theyre notorious for being mistaken aswell -
#3If the tappets are adjusted spot on, then it's likely to be injector noise. Even after having my injectors cleaned, they are still fairly noisy sitting in traffic. Apart from buying new injectors, there's not a great lot you can do.1 user thanked this post:

#4I wouldn't say the Saxo has overly noisey tappets...mine after doing a headgasket needed adjusting and it was almost silent!
Do injectors also make a high pitched whine ie when accelerating? -
#5i thought this aswell got mine sorted and but nope it was just noisey injectors and same as the person above can still here the noise of them on tickover sat in traffic or when im letting it warm up

#6gearbox maybe bud or try loosening the cambelt tensioner might be too tight should be able to pull it a fingers width from its standing normal running path

#7Gearbox is ok, and belt is all gravy. To me it does sound like the injectors, just looking for confirmation on the noise they make.

#9When you say rag the car it's ok to give it 3k isn't it when it's cold ? Also what oil do you recommend ?Quote:dont rag the car form cold and use decent oil
