what engine to put in??

    hi i have a v reg saxo the engine that is currently in it is a 1.1 8v (engine code tu1m) i want to rebuilt an engine to put in it to try get the most power out of an engine but i dont want to change the wiring loom or ecu what is the highest power engine that will go straight in there no ecu or loom change?

    just to expand on my last message, why on earth do you want to rebuild an engine and not change the ecu and loom, the easiest part of the whole job lol and a 1.1 ecu and loom is only going to run a 1.1 engine

    and what do you mean buy the most out of an engine? you could fit anything you like with money, vts engine is obviously the most powerful engine you can fit straight in, but where do you want to go from there?? just breathing mods, throttle bodies, turbo supercharger, nitrous????

    i wanted it as a project like a bit off fun i do mechanics and want to play about with an engine, and i mean polish and port head bore out the pistons new piston rings and pistons high lift cam it. if i did put the vts engine in what will i need new ecu, wiring loom, exhaust system and gearbox?

    well yes you would need a new loom and ecu, but the loom is going to have to come out anyway so fitting a vts engine and vts loom/ecu is going to be no harder than re fitting the 1.1 engine and loom/ecu lol

    you wont need another exhaust or gearbox but you want to highly modify an engine but then you wont want to fit a better exhaust and box??

    porting and polishing is a specialist job, if you mess it up then you will ruin the cylinder head, and tbh mate it doesnt sound like you no an aweful lot about engines, which isn't a criticism but you should leave certain jobs to experts, a good port and polish costs about £600-700 if anyone could do it then no one would pay that much to have it done

    All that to a 1.1, all the effort and time will just not be worth it. With the money get a vts conversion upgrade the brakes save £££'s and you will have double the power just on a standerd vts.

    if you want to do a conversion, i got engine (whats left of it), rear axle lowered 60mm and front pug gti struts with 60mm springs for sale

    My advice buy a cheap VTR lump and start messing with that as they are cheap as cheaps to buy. Then fit it with the correct ECU and loom etc.
