'A increase in fuel pressure will cause your car to produce a flame'

I arrived at work this morning while everyone was outside and had my s/s manifold on. One guy said to me 'Does it have fire coming out the back' I laughed at him and said i'm not into that stuff, i don't care.

Then he goes on to say adding a 4 bar fuel pressure regulator will throw more petrol into the engine, this causing it to flame. I explained that i don't think it will work because the lambda sensor in the exhaust will adjust the fuel rate on the ECU, so you will achieve nothing.

Can someone confirm what i'm thinking is true?

Why? a Citroen Saxo doesnt need to spit flames.

on normal conditions, the lambda will try to trim out. At wot, there will be a bit more fuel dumped in yes, as lambda is disregarded.

Mine vts shots lil flames on the odd gear change if i drive it very hard but the limiter has been lifted to 7800rpm aswell so i just wave bye bye to my followers

    Thanks!

gabb is correct, but the downside is that you will likely reduce WOT performance

most chip wizards remaps have the rev limit raised to 7.8k, any more and i think you need to run solid lifters and or stronger springs. best results i have heard of were from the ecu i just sold the other month, wayne mapped it and got 163bhp from it, cams, c2 vts head, uprated air filter setup, manifold, de cat and full system. it was of falcus's car from back in the day a canny few years back.
my old vts used to pop flames when you were gunning it when hot and also when you were down shifting, she would pop and fart like mad, that had a bigger fpr on it, manifold, de cat and a single box exhaust. just unburnt fuel burning off in the exhaust

Some will spit flames with just a decat. I know my old 16v used to on upshifts and if I tapped the throttle while over 6k.
