Lots of places on ebay selling 1.1 kits for pennies, and vtr ones for between 30 and 70 quid. Is there actually any difference between them all? Just mine is due up soon and if i can save money then its a winner lol

Aye spotted that myself. I was just curious as a lot of 1.1 parts go dirt cheap, even the parts that are the same between models!!

yea idid wonder that when i was looking at alternators awhile ago, that kit i mentioned is good mate and i got a quote off a garage at £90 to fit it so £150 all in wasn't anywhere near as bad as i thought it was going to be.

Not worth the ballache for the sake of a few hunderd quid.

I have never done one before and even with a guide, there is a chance I could balls it up.

If I did end up screwing it up, bang goes my engine.

Standing out in the cold for several hours getting covered in grease trying to changing a cambelt is not my idea of a good weekend lol.

To be honest its not that messy a job, and besides you turn it over by hand a few times before you spin it over on the starter - that way no real damage can be done and you can rectify problems

37 for a vtr gates kit and 85 for a vts kit count your self lucky lol

The only issue I've found with doing the 8v cambelts is the cover...remove the 6 or bolts, then take off the top engine mount, then try and work the cover out of the bay, I've only done it twice, but haven't spotted a better way yet...as that clip to hold the wires to the alt gets in the way of the mount.

Put it like this. £87 to save you being stuck on the side of the road being laughed at and having to fork out replacement engine or whipping valves out of the pistons arses lol.
For how much a vtr one costs it would be crazy not to do one vtr ones are so easy to do! Vts isnt really that much harder once you know your way around I think thats a good price to be fair for a gates kit.
