  1. #1
ive just got a quick query ive seen few people saying there cars run better on certain types of fuel and was just wondering whether theres a set guide on whats better for your car or it varies between them i have a saxo vtr and usually just put normally put shell optimax in though in fairness i then filled it up at asda the other day and did notice a slight difference

    many thanks

Unleaded in a petrol and diesel in a diesel. simples.

But to answer your question, I find shell's "fuel saver" to be pretty good. Dont bother with that high octane shit, 95 octane is fine in a saxo, can tbe botherd going into why as im tired and have hada long day. But normal fuel from shel is good imo for 1.29!

In a vtr standard petrol is fine. You would be wasting your money if you used anything else.

Any difference you feel is more than likely psychological.

Normal unleaded is fine on a vtr. I'll let the tank almost empty and fill with shell optimum fuel every few months to clean the injectors but other than that your pissing money away.

ive always used texaco fuel in my vtr.

the other week i monged it and needed fuel asap and had to fill up at a mace garage, and my car didnt run right the whole tank, soon as the fuel light came on again i filled up at texaco and has been running fine since

I've always found supermarket fuels to give worse mpg figures compared to shell

i put v-max in my cammed AX VTS, prob did nought but i caned it everywhere.

I also only use V-Max in the AX Turbo as its been mapped for it.

Personally I use that Tesco 99 octane shit, and notice a big difference in starting, no power gains though, but runs smoother

Right, reading this, next time I fill up, I'm going to a shell garage. See if it is any different.

Alot of people mapping their cars for higher octane fuels are recieveing the benefits these additives they asll say they ass to give your car a cleaner enginet well... how many times do you ever see your petrol ? Stuff stinks anyway. Morrisons were the ones that did that dodgy batch few years ago ruint quite a few cars if i remember rightyl and go kart engines haha.
Sainsburys aint bad same as tescos seem pretty good without any real tests and proof who knows...

i've tried a few stations. won't go anywhere near supermrket fuel. jet. texaco total seem to be the same but mine seems to like the local esso unleaded. seems to get more mpg out of that.

As a quick comparison 10 pound of morrisons gets about 55-60 miles and shell fuel save about 75 miles .
