Standard air box with panel Filter for vts ?

Hey guys i was wondering if id get better preformance and better fuel comp from using a standard air box with a k and n panel filter ?

i have got a raceland with a green filter on it at the moment but seems to drink fuel and seem sluggish sometimes :/ it is running rich as well and backfiring. went to pull off once at traffic lights and it had no power and popped :/

Would standard be a better way to go for my Vts ?

    Standard is better.

    what is fuel 'comp'?

Standard box and panal filter wont cure it running rich.

I'm thinking going back to standard airbox on mine actually. Noticed intake temps were higher than I was expecting. Car is fine high end but I think it's killed my low rpm and around town. Need to have a play really....

It could do actually, if his current air filter is slightly blocked or isn't sucking in enough air.

    Has he tried cleaning it?

Unreal the number of people who don't clean their induction kits/air filters.

Dirty or oily air filters will prevent the clean air getting into the inlet efficently...

meaning loss of power or any permanant damage to the engine? i have to give the box and filter a good wipe if not completely change the filter very often

Possibly loss of power depending on how bad a condition the filter is in, especially if it's being choaked with oil.

The filter does exactly that, filter the air coming in to prevent any shit getting into the engine.

A small amount of oil through the breather into the filter is normal but lots or often indicates a bigger issue....

You could get an oil catch tank instead...

thinking about it i haven't cleaned mine for ages still looks clean tho :/ trouble is when i look at the raceland kit it looks as if its against the slam panel and only a little bit air gets sucked in from the front grill where the original air feed goes :/

But honestly thinking of going back to original but with panel filter. wont sounds as nice with the raceland kit but ah well :/
