What are a few mods that can be carried out to get a bit of extra power out of the engine?

Ive been looking at higher lift cams, a bmc induction kit and a remap. but the question is where to go after that?

problem is most people come on and think what can i do to the engine and overlook things like a decent brake setup, suspension setup etc.... And there more important.

If your ride handles like a bus, and slows like a bus...engine performance is pointless and you wasted your money

No point going fast if you can't maintain the speed in corners ect... fuck brakes they only slow you down

Fit a better box, 1.4xsi or 1.3 rallye for me. After that you've got to spend some serious money

Edit: Mabie change out the vtr brakes for some nice big ones

Strip everything out from the insides. Less weight means faster acceleration, better cornering and faster stopping, and it's free!!

]Bastard to drive to work on a cold December morning no?

Yeah it is a complete bastard to drive first thing on a freezing december morning, but on the other hand it is a completely free modification where I know by experience makes a bit of difference.

But yeah I also know how crap it is when you jump in it at 6am when it's -5 outside
