non turbo dump valve :/

    earlier on today a suburu when past and had a lovely dump valve hiss and my friends dad then said thats not even a turbo and said you can have real dump valve setups on non turbo cars, which confused me because i thort their sole purpose was to blow out unused turbo air or something like that. is it true u dont need a turbo for a dump valve cus im confused

    It'll be an electric one.

    There was some Dutch company that made one that run from exhaust gasses but didn't really take off

    ^^^ there's also one that connects to your throttle adjuster thing that's electric and goes off every time your release the throttle. Most pointless thing ever

    I wouldn't even waste my time to look at one. Real turbo or nothing. There is no point pretending, just to try and impress teenagers.
    Even real dump valves sound a bit gay with anything under 1 bar. Personally when I do a low boost conversion I'll be staying sleeper and no point even running a dump valve for 6 psi.

    Edit, if anything, the sound of a huge open turbo spooling up is the best noise by far.

    so he was lyeing u cant get real dump valves that run of exhaust gasses on non turbos that u could take of and plug straight into a turbo. h made me feel like a complete prick infront of loads of people earlier aswell not happy and na i dont want one the saxos for sale if i want a dump valve ill get a turbo.
