How to tell difference of 8v engines?

    Hello, recently bought a second furio...however it feels faster, it does have a 421 and straight through but someone said it may of had a vtr conversion, is there anyway of telling?

    try puting a magnet on the block if it sticks its a vtr if not then its a 1.4 as the vtr block is cast and the 1.4 is ally hope that helps

    thanks mate, really need to find out as just bought a furio but its allot faster than my old one so was just wondering

    Get it dyno'd lol

    Or find where the engine code is

    Its probably because of the mods but the 1.4 a 1.6 look the same so it could be a VTR lump.

    This is the easiest and most surefire way of checking.

    Do the magnet way, as its the easiest and give a definitive answer. Then get it on a rolling road to find the actual power!

    Checked with magnet and doesnt stick so is a 1.4 yeah? Will get some pics when ive put it bacl together tomorrow

    Yep, as long as you checked the block not the head. All Saxo petrol heads are aluminium.

    Could be that your old Furio engine wasn't tken care of as much as this oen or had some underlying issues which reduced power. but when i had my 1.4 engine the breathing mods definitely gave it a bit more poke, so could just be that.

    yeah did it on the block, and think its must just be the induction kit and 421 and straight through that makes the difference. thanks for all the help guys
