Air plenums for throttle bodies

Ive been offered a plenum for my jenvey bodies, are these worth the money or just an expensive extra? I'm guessing i would need to run an air filter with one? mainly just so it doesnt look weird and becasue the air that is being sucked in is more likely to have debris in it, compared to trumpets where air is just being sucked in from the back on the bay, i suppose it means the air supply will be colder if i paired it up to a simota style filter. However is this going to dampen the sexual sound of the bodies lol and will i just be restricting air and the benefit of colder air will just cancel out the restriction?

ive seen jp's saxo which runs a plenum and simota kit, basically is it worth it or just mainly for looks?

its a decent way of fitlering the air going in
All air has debris and dust in that will over time damage valve seats ect

i personally think it would be a little restrictive 4x45mm bodies being fed by a single usually 70mm hole doesnt add up right but they make decent results

Does dampen the noise down too so good for trackdays ect with low noise tolerances

Basicay 6 of 1 half a dozen of the other with them for pros and cons its personal choice

i am a bit worried about running no filter on the trumpets, but my housemate who is usually really anal about things like this and bugging me to get cambelt covers, has assured me not to use any filter lol

i read about some guy on the 106boners about sucking in 3 grub screws and f**ked his engine which has got me worried and seeing a pic of jp's engine bay really makes me want a plenum and a simota kit, i also feel the lack of an air box leaves a big space int he bay which looks odd, beaniemoos/fishers engine bay looked good because they went all out on the engine bay, where mine isnt anything special so i think it might just tidy my bay up and give me peace of mind

going to have to think about it.. im definitely doing a dyno run as soon as its mapped, so i suppose its not the end of the world to do a dyno run after and see a difference, and then sell the parts on if it is restricting...

I would always run a filter on any engine. Running open bodies is just asking for wear and tear.
But yeah, if done well then a plenum is a good way of getting a consistent supply of air to such a restricted space.
And 70mm is plenty big enough to run a saxo engine

Id just buy an itg sausage filter, backing plate and get creative personally.

Its stupid to run open trumpets... in the rest of the car world it's not even an option to run without a filter out of comman sence

    Get a well designed plenum.

im gonna sound stupid hear but how the hell does it bolt to the bodies?? it bolts in place of the trumpets, but how on earth would you gain access??
