saxo vtr on 1.5D box

  1. #1
will be swapping my tired old vtr gearbox at the end of the month for a 1.5D gearbox. was wondering what people thought of this swap that hav already done it them selfs, i.e does it make much difference??

    Nope. IIRc these are slow.

Get a 1.1 gear box or a VTS box, much closer ratios.

Any saxo/ 106 gearbox will work.

    the ratio code is: 20CC61

is that closer than the vtr box?

I think you've supplied the gearbox code?

im guessin not many, if any 1 has a 1.5D box on there VTR. ive searched the 106 owners site and didnt see ne 1 on there :/ lol but hav read that alot of 1.4xsi boxes hav the same code on the casing.

Will update on this at the end of the month wen fitted and will write a repor on ratio and the revs it sits at.

If all fails then VTS box it is lol

Cheers for the help n info

Yeah no bother. Dunno if I put it in the add but I fitted this gearbox new driveshaft seals too
  11. #11
fair play, did u hav this fitted to ur vtr??
  12. #12
No mate an xsi 8v, was going to fit to my VTR but then I got offered an s1 rallye box for a good price
  13. #13
agh fair one. much difference in acceleration?
  14. #14
Not really, I went in the car with the owner and it seemed fine. Could have been rebuild in the diesel casing was what I first thought
  15. #15
not too fussed if no different, just need a new gearbox as mine is fooked. its done 130k lol and is the last thing to be replaced as everython else has already been done
  16. #16
Fair play mate, I think it'll be alright for you - the car didnt seem slow at all and was the 1.6 model
  17. #17
The diesel boxes are the only ones that are longer than the VTR ones IIRC, so slower acceleration and higher top speed.

if you compare it on the guide though, the top speed is the same as the VTR in fith - its only first and second that equate to different speeds - 29 in 1st diesel, 31 on VTR then 55 in second on the diesel 60 on the VTR. Also will depend on what size wheels you are running too

Oh ya, so they are. Just 1st and 2nd are longer. Rest are all the same, as is the final drive. Hadn't actually noticed that before.
