EML. Not Lambda sensors

  1. #1
It came on last week on the way back from Pompey on the M25 steadily going 70Mph.

Today i have re-taped up the bottom lambda sensor that was suppose to go under the car and i removed the other sensor that was in the super sprint manifold and gave this a very good clean.

At the same time, i disconnected the battery for a good 20 minutes hoping this will reset the ECU/ fault but it is still showing on the dash, I've never had this problem before.

One thing i did notice is that when renewing the tape on the taped up lambda sensor the tape had melted a little bit around the sensor. I assumed this wouldn't matter as it's getting taped up anyway so it wont be reading anything.

Get a proper sleeve for it - most modern lambdas have a heating probe.

Even with it sleeved properly, the light may come on occasionally - I get a P0136 fault once or twice a year. Car doesn't drive any different and the fault usually clears itself after a few drives. Disconnecting the battery does jack shit.

We've recently bought a proper snap-on diagnostic computer, and we're only on Milton Keynes, so if you want to pop over, for the price of a Burger King/crate of Fosters we'll read off the codes and actual vaules of the engine control unit and help you sort it.
Otherwise best of luck with it.

I never knew this, i thought it was like air quality probe.

    Beanie + Kris, Thank You!

I will be needing some service from you in the near future if this doesn't go. Glad to know you are near by.
