    hi all

what do people reckon to oil breathers ? and also which is the best one to get if any ?
  2. #2
Personally i would get an oil catch tank as they can leak oil. Only a small amount but it keeps things tidy.

Rubber hose + monster energy drink can = ghetto oil catch ftw.

I ran a breather years ago. Engine bay - splatter plus oil smell in car.

    Id use a catch tank.

    Thats why gibbos done it.

The coke bottle/whatever else you choose has been done by loads of people because its cheap and does exactly the same job as a £50 catch tank.

Basically yes but considering the price of a catch tank is about £20 i'd fit a proper one. Plus most have a neat little drain point for you to use for emptying off oil/condensation/fairy dust

I just pull mine out and tip it upside down to empty it of water..

That £20 saved can be put in the tank then enjoyed.

With the tank being situated in the engine bay its a bastard to drain for alot of people.

Fact is, most people have empty coke bottles around so can replace it every time. Means you can also get rid of the oil/water mix without having to pour it into another container.

If you go for a catcher tank, do you need to seal off the inlet hole into air box from where breather pipe was?
  24. #24
catch tanks are the best idea for these imo
tidy no oil everywere no smell so win

    heres mine i fitted today

one of the more expensive ones on the market but due to the flat shape pretty easy to make bracketry for and fills this gap in the bay very well haha

garden hose will be swapped for some samco line soon i think though
