problem you will find is you only have 1 fuel line and need 2 so you will need to replace fuel tank and pipes inside the car.
also have had to change the whole wiring loom not just engine bay.

pretty sure his car already has a return line. same engine as i had and mine has one. dont think vtr engines use a return anyway

No vtr dont have a feul return, only the vts...
  5. #5
blacktop vtr has return as does 1.1 spi

i have a 1.1 saxo eastcoast! its a spi i believe!! what engine would be best and a straight swap?
  7. #7
best tip tbh is if you dont feel confident dont bother attempting. youl only get stressed when you do things wrong or come across a problem, which if not confident will be happening a lot

It's not just the engine mate, I would have thought you are going to need to upgrade the suspension and brakes to cope with the added power and weight. Could be wrong but the standard VTS brakes are not that great at stopping the 16v engine so I don't see how 1.1 brakes could do the same.

It's been done plenty of times but a lot of ballache and could end up costing more if you are paying someone else to do it than just buying a VTR/VTS.

ive done a lot of reading up on this and it looks like i would have to do alot of work to fit it, meaning fuel lines and new engine mounts? so i just wanted to fit a vtr engine on 1.4 boz with good breathing mods and exhaust!

i forgot to mention, insurance would be a bitch! i will be paying 2200 a year for a 1.1 with a 1.6 engine! so thats why i wanted a 8v! its the cheapest around for me

There's no more hastle in fitting a 16v engine than an 8v matey. And the 1.4 box is a shit one why do you want that?

save yourself some cash and just use your 1.1 box
  28. #28
Use your 1.1 box as Kenny said, better acceleration than the 1.4 box (1.4 is almost the same as the vtr box, which people don't like to have on their car..including me who actually has a vtr box on my S conversion )

on the note of the thread, vtrs do have returns, you dont need to rewire the whole car, my friends 1.1 was plug and play with his new vtr engine. as for being cheaper to buy one you could do the swap for £200 relatively easy..

wow what an old thread! ive now gone for a 1.4 furio bootom end and going to change the head and so on so should be good for 100 bhp
