vtr loom for xsi engine

  1. #1
    hi all
i could really do with some info as i cant find anything on auto data for a xsi loom,

does anyone know if a mk1 vtr loom will match up to a 1.6 xsi engine?

i know the ecu plugs are different but will all the pin numbers be the same inside so i can change the plugs easily?

    thanks

Not the same mate, have to get the loom spliced to fit a vtr...

Or you can run the xsi engine on the vtr loom and management.

I run my s2 rallye/xsi 1600 on single plug vtr injection, you may need to sort the FPR for a 3 bar one if the engine is going in a VTR

But if you run this engine as a vtr, shouldnt you leave everything alone? As you will be using everything the same minus the engine?

No because the VTR injectors dont fit the xsi head properly as they are too small so have to run either xsi injectors or rallye ones which are larger -this then leads you to changing the FPR from a 3.5 to a 3.0 otherwise it'll over fuel like mad

Chris used my 1.4 loom on his xsi engine.

    thanks for the replys

ive basically got a 106 xsi engine and ecu and plug thats unlocked but no loom, as moneys abit tight i didnt want to buy another ecu if i can help it was planning on just splicing the loom if it was compatable

if i did use a mk1 ecu would i loose any power as the bhp figures are quite different between an xsi and a mk1 vtr 105 & 95 ish

    thanks

running vtr kit you'll lose the 7200 rpm rev limit for one but it will run so try it and see what you think mate, people have reported good gains from just a cam and exhaust/induction on a vtr black tops so theres no reason why an xsi unit shouldnt offer the same gains. After all the xsi has a higher compression ratio (compared to the vtr and s2 rallye as the pistons are domed) and it runs a J cam which is 270 degrees duration I believe.
