I don't understand....

Why does some vts's backfire with full exhaust system on and just a induction kit on? Mine pops under 2k like loads when you let off but I've heard other saxos what's got the same set up and there backfiring and sometimes flames, why dosnt mine do it?!

As far as i know if you have a decat with a straight through pipe with manifold it should pop but you dont normally get flames.

Flames are usually a result of overfueling iirc

    ^^ That.

My old car spat flames..but the engine was fubar'd. Overfuelling, burning oil etc.

My new one with the same OMP exhaust system hasn't popped a flame yet.

As other's said, it's often to do with the ECU overfueling

an ecu controlled engine should not pop flames if it is running correctly. as when you let off the accelerator it cut the injector pulse (if you still in gear)

carb'ed cars pop flames simply cause it is like chucking a bucket of fuel into the cylinder so when you turn the ignition off it will still pump fuel into the cylinders cause it is done under atmostpheric pressure.

besideds doing it will fuck you piston rings and therefor your engine.

    Overfueling.

My VTR with a 4-2-1, straight through and a peco backbox was popping and banging, loud ones aswell with a spit of flame.

But doing 20mph in 2nd/3rd foot all the way down, shit load of pops and bangs then it shoot off. Sounded good but wasnt any good for the engine.

A standard mapped car shouldnt really flame to be honest but some do. Small amounts of flame arnt always bad, epic flames generally are but you use over fueling to help temperatures.

Mine always smells rich of fuel when I get out do you know why that is? Mine pops but no bangs :/

    Probably a knackered lambda sensor

I have a VTS with standard manifold, de-cat, silencer and ashley racing backbox and i get decent size flames....

    Over fuelling maybe?
