best mod

I am after new ideas for my vtr
So what would you say is your best mod ???

    Engine/styling? Best for what, performance?

My tyres would come No1, as they mean I can push it so much harder through corners - but there's rarely a "best mod" as they tend to all work together to make the car good.

Ie; cornering, you want good brakes, tyres, suspension setup, low chassis weight etc for it to all work.

    a turbo rated to 1450bhp...

dont know what good it would do for you, but it would be a great purchase.

My exhaust makes my radio useless, the new wheels will make it look sexy, and the hard top will make it more comfortable.

When I start work on the engine it'll have high lift cams and either a supercharger from the mini cooper S or a turbo of some sort. I'm sure that'll make for an interesting drive too.

Then I'll get some HSD coilovers to get rid of my bouncy ride, a TorSen Limited Slip Diff and a TR Lane Roll bar and I should be done for a while.

Meanwhile on the 4x4...... won't go into that just yet haha

sounds interesting i amjust after ideas as to what elsei can to the car

    as in
    handling
    performance
    and looks

that sort of thing and wondered whatworked best for other people

    Coilovers, bigger torsion bars.

Turbo the Vtr or do the Vts conversion and go from there

Looks wise, these are good looking cars anyway. With some sensible wheels and a 40-50mm drop they look perfect.

1.1 box was the best mod I did on my 8v. Well the one I noticed the most difference.

4-2-1 - ss race centre - omp backbox
spax suspension - 60mm on VTR rims with toyo's
    1.1 box

That was it.. made a fun car.

i bet it was like driving a go cart

Tough choice between b8's or a lower brace tbh..

in all seriousness, if it was a new car to me my first port of call would be a full fluid change..

+1 for the 1.1 box, it makes the acceleration seem much more responsive/fierce. The only issue is that the 1.1 only outputs around 70bhp and a small amount of torque but most vtrs are around 100bhp with a higher torque figure, this wears the 1.1 box rapidly as its bearing's and differential sun an planet gears arent rated for such power and torque, im have killed 2 1.1 boxes in little over 1 year, i then fitted a vtr box and its been fine for 2 years so far , anyone else had issues with 1.1 gearboxes on vtr/s

Sun and planet gears lol, it's not an automatic. You are thinking of epicyclic gear systems. and i'm pretty sure all ma boxes share the same bearings and layout apart from the "sport clusters" in the vts box

Lose the VTR box gets my vote, fit vts/gti box for a road car or even an xsi/s2 rallye if you can find one
