gearstick wobble (with video) HELP!

  1. #1
basically when in gear and in neutral i can move the gearstick quite a bit which should not be happening.

    shifting set-up is as follows..

    B&M shortshifter
    Kam Racing gear linkages
    B&M Quickshift
and now a brand new gear rod

all of the above fitted correctly and tight for best shifting, compared to standard its good but still the wobble. i bought a genuine brand new gear rod ( the bit from the gearstick to the linkages)...fitted that but NO difference what so ever.

tightened the linkages as much as i could to stop wobble, but heres the video of whats going on from underneath

i can see what bit is still moving, just dont know what it is.

why is it doing this? can i replace a small bit to fix it? how much? etc if anyone can shed any light that would be wicked.

    many thanks in advance, Del

Checked the split pin on the gearbox lever? that gets worn and has slight movement..
  3. #3
how would i check if its worn? is it a simple fix if so?
  4. #4
try and wobble it with your hand, if there's movement.. that's the cause lol

It's a 'simple' knock the pin out and knock the new one in.. it's just where it is what makes it a fiddle.

and that will solve the bit thats wobbling? do you know where abouts i can get it from and or a rough price?

sorry for loads of questions just annoyed ive spent £30 on a gear rod i didnt need lol

yeah if its wobbling left to right it will probably be the roll pin in the box, swapped mine not long ago was only about 30p from citroen

Yeah just go to the dealers and give them the part number, I hadto go back the next day because they ordered one in. It took me ages trying to explain to them what i wanted because I didnt have the part number when I went lol..

Might be a good idea to get a couple so you have spare if you ever need one

Change the roll pin first, they are only 32p from Citroen but are usually a ballache to get in and out but should be ok if you follow the guide above.

The play could be in the gearbox itself, even after replacing the entire linkage system from the bottom of the gear stick all the way to the gear box I still have a little left to right movement.

In the guide above there is a bit which mentiones drilling an M12 washer to fit between the control arm and the box to reduce the play but it's never going to be perfect.

this. usually not worth it if you take the car to a garage because of labour costs, worth it if you can do it yourself.

Cheers guys. Yeh I'll be fitting it myself, wouldn't take it to the garage like said for silly labour charges.

I'll be going to citroen today or tomorrow and hopefully get the pin and get most of the wobble sorted. Cheers people!
