Safety Devices cup cages group buy for 106's.

I'm in the early process of trying to pull together a potential group buy on these cages. After missing out on the last one and with me buying one regardless, I have seen a few people on both here and 106 Owners that theres a few people wanting the same.

Now currently I'm waiting to hear back from Chris Birkbeck who helped set up the last one which took place HERE.

From looking at Willsy's thread it seems that they got a 20% discount on all parts of the cage and I would be hoping to get the same.

Now below are the prices in which they got in 2010 but as we all know theres been a VAT rise last year and no doubtably the price may have increased.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Options Are:

    6 point Cage: C019

Bolt in cage, clears normal trim and dashboard,45mm main hoop, rear cage with detachable back stays, MSA/FIA Homologated.

Carriage to a UK Mainland Address £65.00

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    12 Point Cage C020

Bolt in Multi point Cage, Clears dashboard, 45mm main hoop, rear cage with detachable back stays, MSA/FIA Homologated

Rear Cage, Removable fixed diagonal in removable back stays £283.91

Rear Cage, Cross Diagonal, removable harness bar, tunnel brace, rear strut brace £329.82

    Single Door Bar LH £48.00
    Single Door Bar RH £48.00

Carriage to a UK Mainland address £65.00

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The majority of the last lot got the cages for £615 + Delivery. This was the 106 12 point, front/rear with all the extras/single door bars - MATT BLACK.

The difference between the 106 cage and the Saxo one, are the rear mounting points. Saxo-rear arches, 106-boot floor.

Like I say I'm waiting to hear back from them and as soon as I do I will be updating the thread. Any questions post in here, on my wall or PM me.

Could be very interested in this mate

Let me know if there is any price difference!
  3. #3
I'd be interested if they could do a good price on the fitting kit only. I've already got a 106 cage.

What so your going to but another cage?

The fitting kits are only like £90 anyway!
  5. #5
Are those prices there with the discount deducted or price before?

Does anyone have any pics of the difference between these:

6 point with option 2 rear and single door bars

    &

12 point with option 2 and single door bars

Think id be really up for this just want to see the difference between said cages before i put my name down.
  6. #6
also, why is there such a price difference between 106 and saxo? Sureley they are the same cage just different rear mounting points?
  7. #7
A, the normal price for these are over £800

B, the Saxo one is pish and I'd go for the 106 one everytime.

Just to add, the Saxo one mounts to the rear arches, the 106 one mounts where the floor meets the arch.
Also the 106 one won't clear a Saxo dash.

Is it possible to fit the 106 cage to a sax then? i wouldnt be fussed about cutting the dash at all.
  9. #9
Yep I know someone who did it, the way I'd go even if I had a Saxo so long as the
    Dash can be cut
  10. #10
Seems its pretty straight forward fitting the 106 cage.into sax, as long as you dont mind cutting dash abit. Which im not fussed about so in that case put me down for a cage MS-VTS!

106 cage with Rear(option 2) and single door bars.

When would be best for you?
  16. #16
    Any news on this yet?
  17. #17
Would like to see some updated prices as AB motorsport had a full saxo cage for less than £900 in 2011 and now they are at £1140!
  18. #18
I had just spoken to a lady on the phone and they informed me that no one of any use was in the office today to give me any more information. She asked me to ring back at 8:30am tomorrow morning, so will try and get a break in at work so I can get this all sorted for us.

    Matt.
  19. #19
If we can't get these for less than £750 I'll get me a weld in cage..

That's exactly what I'm thinking. The last group buy got there's for £560, so hopefully its not too far away from that..
  21. #21
    Sweet, hopefully better look tomorrow.
  22. #22
Fingers crossed you got a good result out of them today

Manage to get a break and call them yet matey? Sorry im abit eager haha.

    Afternoon everyone!

I have just got off the phone to Chris and he's given us some good and bad news.

Firstly the bad news is that as expected they have gone up but it's very minor. E.G. Front cage has gone up by £20 and rear £30ish. Also theres a 12 week wait for them, but hopefully we can shorten this due to our demand.

Good news is that the more we have, the more money off.
    3 people - 10% off
    6 people - 20% off
    10 people - TBC..

So if there's anyone who knows of friends that are interested get them in contact with me.

He is sending me an email tomorrow afternoon after he has spoken to safety devices themselves so we can get the ball rolling and everything confirmed.

I will update again tomorrow!! Thanks for your patience..

    Matt.
  25. #25
Great stuff, price rise isnt mega steep to be fair. Cant wait for tomorrows update!
  26. #26
So how much does a full cage come to? (106)
  27. #27
I'm going to hazard a guess at around £600-630 prior to 6 people joining in the group buy. I have also posted this on 106 owners and Rallye Reg so hopefully we get 10 people and a very nice discount!

    Matt.
  28. #28
    Lets hope for 10 people!
  29. #29
    Yep damn right,

Is there any chance I could get a price for a full 106 cage but with double door bars?

  35. #35

  37. #37
Sweet, cheers for letting us know fella!
  38. #38
how soon are you hoping to get this all sorted mate? and can they do the different colour for £50 like in the other thread?

Well as soon as they let me know all the information I will update the first post, then people with serious interest can just post in here and I will put there name in the list.

I would like to get the ball rolling ASAP as with a 12 week waiting time I want it as soon as possible. Also the good thing is, for those that are struggling with money we pay 50% when ordered and then the remaining balance when they are ready to be sent out..

If so id rather a price on the 6 point saxo cage if possible please.
Also can you have the option two rear section, BUT with single door bars like they did in the previous group buy?
    Joe
That's fine mate, I will be given a list of all prices with add ons etc so will put it all up in the first post. the 6 point, option 1 with no door bars will obviously be the cheapest. I think the majority of us want the 106 cage as its a better overall cage and even safety devices have told me this.
  41. #41
ok cheers mate, same here the sooner the better! you can have cross doorbars with the 106 cage cant you?
  42. #42
I think you can choose what you want. So If you wanted just the rear you could or if you wanted to whole lot like me (106 12 point, option two rear, double door bars) you can.

    Joe

    This might help

Im sure iv seen the dash cut alot less than that though?

    Yeah sure mate!
  45. #45
I did have better pics saved but yeah iv seen the saxo dash cut alot less and still looks tidy, only other downside is losing the heater vents but im not arsed.
  46. #46
I think if there is enough interest we should use that to try and get these lead times down from 12weeks. I think if there's 10 of us it should make them enough money to speed things up a bit..
  47. #47
ill definetly have one of these: 106 12 point cage, option 2, double x door bars, also red if possible.
  48. #48
Yeah, I totally agree Danny, we would be paying the best part of £6000 and they expect us to wait 12 weeks? I really hope I can sort it out for us to get a shorter turn over time, although its not all that bad. If we don't get the shorted turn over time, the people with less money that wouldn't necessarily commit normally can do with the situation of only having to pay half upfront..
  49. #49
Had any luck with them today fella?
  50. #50
Kind of pee'd off tbh, he's gone home for the day and won't be back until Monday. So I will be ringing up at 8:30am Monday morning for us. Sorry for this delay..

    Matt.

No movement on the 12week lead time?
  59. #59
Unfortunately not. But maybe when we get the order in, they will see the huge demand and rearrange it for us..
  60. #60
You couldn't send me the number and the persons name so i can find out if its possible to collect direct from safety devices?

Yeah sure. Ask for Paul and say your ringing as part of the the group buy set up by Matt on Saxperience.

    Paul 01287 677512
  62. #62
Just spoke to paul and he seems agood chap! He's going to phone them tomorrow and let me know if you can have cross door bars on the 106 cage if anyone else is interesed. And find out if you can collect direct from safety devices in suffolk
  63. #63
    Thats good news also.

I'm going to try and say that I want to get the deposits down two weeks friday. Should hopefully give all the people time to get the money. REMEMBER ONLY 50% IS REQUIRED. So on my cage it will be just over £300 which is easy to get and then the rest will be due in 12 weeks!

    GET SAVING
  64. #64
So how people are definetly in on this? The sooner its sorted the better
  65. #65
I've got the money sitting in my sky rocket but don't like the 12week lead time.. Think its pants.. Could learn to weld, get iron ore out the ground and make my own cage in that time.

Ryza, I'm also interested in a red cage with cross door bars.
Think me and you are wanting the same cage.
  66. #66
The 12 week wait is shit so the sooner we can pay deposit the better! Paul said they are very busy doing stuff for the military though. For a different colour it is £50 extra and is still powder coated. He should be ringing me tomorrow to let me know if they can do the crossbars. So will let you know when i know!
  67. #67
The 12 week thing is the only part that's annoying me tbh, like they said it's nothing we can do. The sooner we order them the better.

I'm away in Amsterdam for the next few days. Next Monday I will try and get this into the final stages so we can get them! Ryza, if you could , any questions asked if you could take over for a few days that would be great..

    Thanks,
    Matt.

Revived an email and thought it was important to update everyone..

    Hi Matthew
    *
Hows The group buy going ?
    *
    Just an update for you.
    *
20% is the max discount available from Safety Devices ( they supply over 50 cages to BP and even that quantity doesnt get anymore discount !)
    *
approx 12 weeks seems to still be the delivery schedule.
    *
one of your group asked about Cross Door Bars (Ryan Steel) they are not available on the Pug 106 Cage.
    *
I will be out of the office from Lunch time today (Friday ) until Monday morning.
    *
    Regards
    Paul
  74. #74
That's unusual as ab Motorsport quoted me for double door bars.. :/

When do pay, who do we pay etc?
  75. #75
Paul phoned me this morning and basically said the exact same as matt just said. I also mentioned we was hoping to get it sorted next week?

Its a really shame about the cross door bars. Only thing i should have asked him is can they do the saxo front with 106 rear but highly doubt that will work.
  76. #76
Sorry for the late reply. Been away for a while.

I'm still up for doing this if everyone commits! We need to decide on dates etc..
  77. #77
We will be paying Safety Devices directly I believe. I will have to find out for definite!
  78. #78
Can we get the deposit down this friday as hoped? If everyone is still up for it.
  79. #79
yeah same, the quicker we can get it started the better!
  80. #80
So can we get this all ordered tomorrow?
  81. #81
Unfortunatly i cant do this now lads sorry

Got a holiday and new gearbox to pay for so gotta save the pennies!
  82. #82
    I've got the money waiting..
  83. #83
Same. I dont suppose i could ring up paul and see if we can get it with 3 of us and say the others will be able to do it in a later date? The sooner i can get the cage the quicker i can drive it as i miss it
  84. #84
I cant see why no one else seems interested? Surely we can get these ordered now..
