PH3 Cams without remap

  1. #1
Hi, I'm thinking of getting these cams soon for my VTS..
    http://www.kamracing.co.uk/citroen/c...-saxo-vts.html

It states in there that the cams would need a remap. What would be the implications without getting a remap? I know the car would run a lot better etc with a remap but that would be done at a later date.

    Thanks in advance

it will idle like shit and probably stall a lot if you don't give any revs when pulling away

lumpy or even non exsistent idle and wont release full potential of the cams. Probally be ok until you can get a remap thou

Okay thanks for the quick reply! How much does a remap generally cost?

are you using the standard ecu or standalone?

the cost of the mapping will vary on where you go to

I'll be using the standard ecu yeah. Ahh right will look around for remapping then.

Price will be somewhere in the region of £200-£400 on average if taken somehwere reputable, possibly the higher end of the estimate though

if you end up going to chipwizards, it'll be 160bhp

Is there cams that wouldn't need a remap? Or would the remap be a lot more beneficial for performance reasons? Just weighing up my options lol.
    Cheeers

IIRC, Newman recommend retarding the inlet cam 2 degrees for a better idle with the standard ECU. Don't think you'll have any problems running it without a new map for a while - I know a few people who never bothered getting theirs mapped at all and seen slight gains. In the ideal world, you will want one though.

Main reason for the map is the idle, mid range power/torque and the extra revs so you can use all the power you get from the cam's. You can install them and run without but it gets a pain in the arse stalling all the time at junctions etc. (i ran mine for 2 weeks without a map.)

Id just wait until you can afford a map and do them together

Okay, I'll just wait and do both the same time then. Cheers people!

What cams are people running in VTSs to get decent power increases, make and profile and what is the standard cam profile??
