#2checked there's any transmission fluid in the gearbox?
-
#3I had the same problem, just drain the gearbox and fill it back up with 2litre's of the correct oilQuote:After driving for about 40 minuets my gear change becomes stiff and starts to creak/sqeek. Any ideas??
I also changed my gear linkages but the may be optional in your case

#4What size sump plug key is the gearbox drain plug? Cheers
-
#5You need the square key to take out the drain and fill plugs on gearbox. This one http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...Id_255216#dtab

#6pretty sure its linkage rubber going dry and perishing...same happened on mine
-
#7Cheers I'll pop to halfords tommorow, and hopefully get it sorted, cheers

#8Right I drained the gearbox and filled it with 2litres of the correct gearbox oil and it's still getting stiff and creaky after around 30 mins of driving? Any ideas? Cheers..

#9Linkages would be the next option, get under the car and move them about with your hand to see.
Is it stiff when going both left/right and forward/back? -
#10Yeah stiff on all directions, it's got rose jointed linkages, could they be the problem?
-
#11Grab some high temp grease and cover the linkages at the gearbox arms, the control arm and the lever arm.
The heat from the engine causes the grease to loss it's viscosity and then eventually dribbles away, the squeaking the metal rubbing on metal. Occasionally these joints need regreasing and should be checked as part of a servicing schedule. -
#12Ok chears, thought there was something wrong with the gearbox.?. I'll get some tommorow and hope it cures it...
