Saxo keeps cutting out while driving help needed

Hi there, Recently my car keeps cutting out while I'm driving it. I think its getting worse. Basically the lights come on and it cuts out. I did think it was just the cold but it happens even when the engine has been running for a while. Only other thing i can tell you is that it normally cuts out when going 30mph around there. Any ideas on what it could be. Thanks

Does it cut out when you're on the throttle or when you've dropped the clutch etc? Could be idle control valve

Cuts on when I'm on the throttle mainly. How could i check if its a problem with the idle control valve?

Mine did this, was quite dangerous, get it fixed ASAP.

Just give the icv a good clean, sorted mine out, or it could be faulty, might need replacing

Any idea on where the icv is. I have no idea lol

if the icv doesn't solve it check for vacuum leaks around the inlet manifold & when was it last serviced? could have a slightly blocked up fuel filter or something like that if its cutting out on throttle

mines was doing this also, replaced coil pack, fuel filter and sparks plugs, seems to be good now

ive got this problem except cuts out when i press clutch, not throttle. Changed icv, oxygen sensor, checked for vacume leaks and had a full service but still does it now and then -_-

mines cut out on me before, however cant remember if it happened when clutch or throttle was down, so i cleaned the ICV as leeham987 said, but while i was doing that i also took throttle body off cleaned that, and also took the throttle position sensor off then back on. havent had a problem since. Also reset the ICV before starting

Mine use to do this and i got the fuel pump fixed and its been fine ever since

yep, as barker says, sounds very like fuel pump if it cuts out dead when putting down the boot... if you let off the boot will it fire up again or is it cutting out dead that you have to pull in?

Hi, I have recently bought a VTR Mk1 and am now experiencing this problem while driving. I have gone through the procedure of taking the throttle body off and cleaning as well as cleaning the icv. While i was trying to figure it out i had car running and it was doing it while i was revving the engine, just dyeing as if it had ran out of fuel.

When i bought it i put normal fuel in to start with, then made a change to super, not sure if this would affect it at all, but it is making me think it's a possibility as it started once i had started using super. Coincidence maybe ? :-/

Any help would be much appreciated as i need my car to go anywhere due to living in an urban area.

    Thanx in Advance

You bumped a 2 year old thread, you ought to make your own
If you tried the solutions in this topic, try checking the battery connectors, i wonder why nobody mentioned them here... i had this exact same problem, but the battery connector (positive) wasn't connected 100%, even if it does seem to be connected, give it a good shake, if it does shake try locking it up, it happens...
