    Animal!

Thats my thoughts if your even thinking about doing that, woow you got bigg ball mate
Think of the amount of power in about 800kg car lol!

Yes!! im thinking of doing this once i get to the limits of the supercharger, youd have to look into what exactly you wanted from it though. most of the time this sort of compound boost is fitted on cars for timeattack etc that need instant throttle response, the supercharger is usually used to overcome the 'Lag' of a giant turbo and is usualy bypassed once the turbo is up to boost so would have to look into valves that do that or electric clutches that disengage at certain rpm/boost, would be very interesting!

check this out you may have already seen it??

sounds brilliant , with yours being a 1.4 it will be like what vw have done with there 1.4 turbo and supercharged engines and for low power 170bhp in quite a heavy car they shift very well and its the better feel you get with the turbo and supercharger as the lad above said as it basicly cancels all lag which is very nice so theres no doubt that in a 800kg 106 that lag free lump would be very nice

They are 200bhp at the fly 180bhp at the wheels, seat ibiza cupra/bocanegra.. 2 of my mates bought 1 when i told them about the 1.4tsi.. they do go very well for 1.4!

I own a MK5 Ibiza Cupra with the twin charged engine. It drives very well. Drives like a N/A car with no lag but with more torque.
Fairly complicated in operation. The chargers are very specifically chosen in order to have a seamless change over from the supercharger to the turbo.

as above, it would take alot of thinking of what supercharger and what size turbo you need to run to make it lag free and smooth. i would of thought space would also be a major disaster in a saxo bay as most struggle to get a turbo in there let alone supercharger to.

its a nice idea but i think its pointless unless going after something different. a supercharger will get a vts to 200bhp atw easily as will most turbochargers. and some turbos will even have very quick spool times to. hardly notice the lag.

    bet it would be rapid!

Could feck the engine quite quickly if you don't know exactly what your doing is all I would say, other than that it would be a fast little motor

iirc it gets harder to twincharge with the bigger you get regaurding the turbo and supercharger size as you will want that change over where you cannot notice the change over.

but if anyone can shed more light on this please correct me

I dont think it would be that hard tbh, using a rotrex charger you can gear it to whatever rpm is required hardest part is stopping it!

It would be nice if you could get the TSI setups or atleast both chargers off of a tsi lump. then its a case of sorting the valves and gizzmos out. easyier said than done i imagine.

still, i have to agree, i would love to see such a setup in a saxo
  14. #14
Both! In Lancia Delta S4 fashion!!
  15. #15
not read all that.. but in theory its a easy setup.. supercharger runs until turbo is upto boost.. supercharger is a a clutch just like a aircon compressor has... once turbo is on boost, supercharger cuts out and theres a simple butterfly valve swaps from s/c feed to turbo feed

AW Tracksport in Horncastle, lincolnshire did it with a MK4 golf
  16. #16
pic i have of it under construction... i used to work for a hydraulics company and did all the oil lines...

Can see the supercharger bottom left... and turbo (T4 btw!!) top right... not fully plumbed in

DP engineering also built a 1.4 TU engine with twin turbo's and a supercharger. Have a look on their website. It should still have some details up.

Im pretty sure that the Lancia didnt run a bypass system and both S/C and T/C ran continuously.... I think.

Listen to the noise the bastards made...from the rear all you can hear is exhaust and turbo....from the front, just the S/C whine!!!

  20. #20
Sounds better with just a turbo IMO

seen that exact car in the flesh racing up the hill. sound is immense!

Ive been thinking bout using a small turbo that makes boost early on. And gear the charger so it keeps boost going as the turbo runs out of puff.
But unless forking out for a really high reving engine is there really much point as u still need it driveable.

Just had a little accident around my undercarriage area.

Piedrafita did a compound charged (turbo and s/c) AX Sport that did 420bhp. Was 375bhp if they wanted it to be sharp response and drivable. That from a 1.3 alloy TU.

have you got anymore info on this had a search but not turned much up :/ sounds mental though!

I bet the sound from inside both cars at high revs must be pretty epic!
