my exhaust fell off today and its snapped at the manifold, so while i wait around for a new manifold, is it okay to drive around with no exhaust? thanks.

#3Yeah its loud, & annoying, looking to buy a new 1 now
-
#4It will be ok may backfire a fair bit, and you will get un-wanted attension off the police and if his in a shit mood fine time
-
#5well, other than the police / vosa have the right to take your vehicle to a garage to get it fixed or issue penalties for driving a vehicle thats not road worthy, there isnt much more they can do, so i wouldnt worry.
there is a difference between "fuck i need a new exhaust"
and
"my exhaust broke, ill pop into town go round ma m8s, go for a cruise down the local strip and then order a new one next week" -
#6Well my cars sat at work in the day, and i dont go out alot, parts have been ordered aswell, so i should be ok (Y)
-
#7Oh and drive with the windows down else you will find the exhaust gases will fill the cabin in no time
-
#8will sound like a banger racer
if police see you they might pull you
if it were me, id put the old exhaust in the boot, and maybe an order receipt for the new one youve ordered so you can blag your way out of any potential fines. -
#9As above. If you have a proof of purchase then you should be ok. Just put your foot on the clutch if the police are coming the other way (used to work in my old s14a) so things go nice an quiet for a few seconds.

#10Do it, it'll be fine

#11I had to do this once. Centre pipe to backbox came loose, Car -60mm down on 14's.. middle of nowhere..
Just ripped the backbox off threw it in boot and enjoyed the rally car noise (and scraping) all way home. -
#12Ive a manifold and downpipe for an 8v that you can have for nothing if you are stuck
-
#13It's actually illegal and carries 3 points and a £60 fine. I drove around without a back box for a few days and got pulled the other week. Copper gave me a verbal warning and sent me on my way.
Not to mention the car stinks of petrol and sounds like a banger car. It does pop and bang very nicely though
You loose a lot of power and its sluggish as hell.

#14LOL 'proof of purchase and you'll be fine', some how i dont think you'll get away with it, its not like driving around with no tax disc and showing proof of purchase for tax, if the car isnt road worthy it shouldnt be on the road no matter if you've bought the parts to fix it lolQuote:As above. If you have a proof of purchase then you should be ok. Just put your foot on the clutch if the police are coming the other way (used to work in my old s14a) so things go nice an quiet for a few seconds.
Ste
also keeping proof of purchase is admitting guilt, you are saying yea the exhaust has fallen off the other day but im still riving it around, and ive had time to go home and order a new exhaust and then decided to drive it again
if it was me id probs still use the car but just keep the exhaust in the boot and say it fell off a few miles down the road
also the actual question was pointless, yes the car will be be loud and down on power, but its still drivable and your gonna attract unwanted attention, just sounds like the OP is asking for our approval to drive his car, its just a gamble weather you think your gonna get caught at the end of the day
