Mk2 Vtr engine in Mk1 with no wiring change

    Is it possibile to put a mk2 3plug engine in a 1 plug car? i mean keeping all the looms the same. What sensors are different and will the mk1 exhuast fit and will it hit the oil filter?

    MK1 and MK2 looms are different.

    The MK2 has 2 O2 sensors to start and some of the other plugs and sensors are different.

    Why not just get a mk1 engine? blacktop vtr unit has better valve springs, and the xsi and rallye units are a better spec still

    I have two vtrs sitting one 03 plate and one s reg, the s reg shell is mint but has 120k on the clock, the 03plate has a nackered shell but a mint engine with 70k. I tried swapping the internal and engine loom, ecu, clocks but the 03 plate has a aftermarked immobiliser which stumped me to say the least and also it is some effort taking the dash out of two cars!!
