How to smooth a dash

   Hi there just bought myself a new standard dash to sand down and paint gloss black, now im wondering if there is anything i can use on it to get it to a nice smooth finish, other than hours and hours with sand paper as i did all my inserts and plastics around the gear knob red and that took bloody ages and thats only a small area compared to a dash any.
   
   Any ideas would be great, but i cant fibre glass for the life of me.

   sanding the only way really as fibra glass might crack as it not really flexible

   sorry mate i did and i do usually, its just how you word it i guess as all i got was how to remove it. but read yours and i guess its just rub, rub, rub then some more rubbing, whats the best sand paper for the job thick then work your way down.

   you wana try filler primer and then sand that down few coats maybe even one if your lucky should fill all the little ripples or w.e you want to call them

   if you paint it gloss black im pretty sure you will get a lot of glare on it, making it awkward to drive in the sun?

   No the only problem you get with black is the heat of the sun normally cracks it.

   i sanded mine down loads, mixed filler and fibreglass resin so it goes like a thick milkshake and used that as a final fill.

    i smooth it similar to how i smooth my cat.
    one end to the other.
