Yeah, easiest way to do it aswell if you havent got an Engine crane.

Jack the front on the car up, get 2 jacks under the sump and gearbox, and lower both down in sync to the floor. Drag it out under the front or Passenger side.

How I did mine, was out pretty quickly

so then what do you just lift the front of the car over the engine?

    Pretty much.

With a couple of people you could lift the car up and over if you wanted to.
If theres just one of you, its a bit of a ballache

I take them out the bottom when i do have a crane and/or ramp available its alot easier

when i had my saxo, i took engine out through the top , but when i was stripping it for parts as i couldn't get the hub nuts off, i dropped the struts/shafts/box and engine to the floor and lifted car over

Good, cause were going to put a couple jacks under the engine as the car will be be on ramps so we'll just lift the ramps up.

    Good, that makes life easier.

i done mine from the bottom and without a crane. never had to move the car either. just slid the old engine out, new engine into place then let the car down
