you only do it when fitting another engine and you dont want to swap the immobilisers over, it doesnt do anything performance wise

However some people have said that they get a higher rev limit with an unlocked ecu whether this is true or not is debatable , i dont think it is as the only way t raise a rev limit, to my knowledge, is to get it hooked up to a laptop and adjusted but peak power comes in before the std 7250 rev limit anyway so a raised limit on a std car is pointless as you'll be loosing power leaving it that long to change gear

I think when certain people unlock them, they must raise the limiter incase the customer is running high lift cams?

My unlocked ecu allow's me to rev to 7600.. which is bad as i've still got weak jp4 springs. So I try to change at 7k..

ah yea that is a possibility, my housemates ecu revs to 7800 on his std engine but he bought evrything second hand so you never know whats been done tot he parts before you bought them

and yea i was reading up on the cams kamracing sell to suit the saxo bottom end/c2 cylinder head combiantion and it says you need to use the saxo springs as they are stronger and under the newman ph3 cams apparantly if you reguarly go in to between 6500-7000 revs then you should use stiffer springs when camming

Well it was bought locked - then sent off to be unlocked - came back with 7600 limiter

And even with standard cam's theres power at 6500-7000 - so yeah gets rev'd to that regularly!

With cam's it would make peak power over 7k - so I would definitely change them, then.
