Can I put my a 106 engine in a Saxo

  1. #1
    Hi All
First of all, not too sure if this is in the right section, if it is, apologies in advance..
But now on to the query, my friend has a mk2 106 ( 1.1 ), I have a mk1 saxo ( 1 Litre ) . I would like to put her engine in my car.
Would this be a simple task, a straight swap?
Is there anything I need to consider?
    Many Thanks, Dave

Pretty much straight swap. Loom differences if any and ECU if its SPi.

SPi?! It's a 106 Independence 1.1... Is that err SPi?

Will be SPi or Mpi (injection)

Will that be an issue though as I'll have the 106's ECU. I've literally got the whole car sitting on my front lawn... So I've got everything...

you may have issues with the body loom to engine loom connection

the 106 engine loom wont fit your saxo interior loom you will have to cut the end of you saxo loom off and splice it on to the 106 loom apart from that everything is a straight swap, absolute waste of time though imo for the same amount of effort you could just fit a vts enigne, if your doing it because your engine is knackered then fair enough but please dont fit the 1.1 becuase it has slightly more power, having a decent dump before you leave the house will probably make the same amount of difference

    straight swap pal

take everything you need from her car. if you both have SPI you could run the same ecu but i would highly go against you swapping a engine over if you have no idea what SPI and MPI are
