Help from someone with knowledge on Turbo's

Hello, i was wondering if someone could help me. I have found a really good Manifold, Turbo and downpipe for a good price and dont want to miss out on it, but im struggling for money at the moment until work picks back up. I can lend the money for the turbo for a short period but i would have to sell my current manifold to help pay it off.

Would i be able to fit the new manifold, turbo and downpipe to my engine and drive my car as per with no boost pipes etc fitted without causing any damage? I understand that the turbo will get hot but no where near as hot as it would get with me running boost, I was thinking of putting a wire mesh over the turbo intake to prevent debris etc damaging the turbo and i was baring in mind running the oil feed and return in just to keep the turbo cooler. I understand the turbo will not benefit me at all but i just dont want to loose out on this good price?

Is there anything else if i was to fit the turbo, manifold and downpipe to the car which would be required. Thank you, Loui

.............. also obviously i would be continuing with the turbo kit once work picks up. I would just leave it at that stage. cheers

Surely it would be fine because if anything the turbo will be running cooler without boost and will an oil feed and return just as a safe guard also meshing the intake to prevent debris then it would be fine in my eyes just not beneficial. Unless there is something i have not covered.

Why not just pick up a stock manifold from a breakers, then you don't have to worry about fitting the turbo without anything else...

At least fit a boost hose and restrict it. Overboosting damages turbos.

If you simply plum a turbo in with no boost pipe the turbo speed will increase dramatically and will over spin likely resulting in significant damage from sustained use.

You really should look in to this a lot more before you spend any money as you appear to be missing the basics and look to be spending far more then you can really afford. Odds are you will end owing more then you can afford and ending up with nothing more then a pile of scrap. Im not having a go its just i have seen it many times before. Your best to look and really think about what your doing before spending any cash.

When you say fit a boost hose restrict it do you mean restricting the airflow to the turbo? Cheers
