Canon EOS 1100D

  1. #1
    Hello Photography people,

I know these questions get asked a lot, so apologies for noobness.

I'm looking at getting something better than i've had before (compact), I have seen the 1100D and it seems to be a sensible step.

Would anyone recommend or have better suggestions?

I'm hopeless, so no need for super expensive equipment i wouldnt know how to use, but it would be nice to have something to learn with.

    Thanks

Not a bad camera at all as a first SLR imo.

I may be selling my 550d with kit lens and couple of accessories in the next week or 2 if you didn't mind 2nd hand.

They're small. Not comfortable if you don't have girls hands

Get a 550d if you can.

they're pretty cheap at the mo due to 600d being out, and yet still have a respectable spec list for the price you pay.

I considered both the 1000d and the 550d before buying.

you'd probs pay an extra £100 - £150 for a brand new 550d, but with that you get a digic 4 over the digic 3 processor, better sensor, better autofocus, full size LCD screen and more.

As ry said though, feel is pretty important, the entry level canons are pretty small, just one of the reasons I personally want to make the step to the 7d / a full frame canon soon-ish.

It's a much better fit in the hand though than the base models

I went out and shelled out for a brand new Nikon D3100. In hindsight I wish I'd have bought a second hand, cheaper body as I've pretty much outgrown this already.

My opinion, get a second hand 1000D if you're set on a canon, and enjoy the learning curve first. You'll probably be able to sell it for nearly what you paid for it in a year or so and you can take your lenses with you.
