Wouldn't spend too much for improving the performance of it like already been said! You could have the all show no go thing but it gets pretty boring fairly quickly ! You can do a r or even s conversion for reasonable money now,

i would say dont touch the engine and just make it look good

Make it lighter, that will make it faster and its free. It will cost too much money to tune the 1.1
You could always buy mods that you can still use on a larger capacity engine. For example if your planning on getting a vtr or s engine transplant or getting a vtr or s you could get a decent exhaust, that way your getting something you can still use later on. Same with suspension and brake mods. just remember to keep your standard stuff to put back on.

As said show not go. My 1.1 is having the engine bay sprayed and tidied. That's all that is needed. The biggest difference you will notice to any 1.1 would be aesthetically.

You will not see anymore than 10-15 bhp from mods on a 1.1 unless you turbo or supercharge it which is mega £££ on a 1.1 which will only bring it up to 100-120 bhp which will be the same as a vtr/s conversion. give or take.

Why not improve brakes and suspension instead, then if you choose to put a 16v engine in later on, you won't have to upgrade these again?

print outs of after but not before. got 69.something brake on a harsh roller. i looking for it now and will put it up.
defo improve the brakes as they are no good if you go any faster then 50 mph really bad for every 1.1 i have ever been in.

No chance, Exhaust and Induction kit on the VTS won't give 10bhp.

Had this before on another thread with devil that was on surry rolling road which i was told was a harsh roller. It was done in 4th or 3rd not sure the other people who were there would know. It was organised through saxP i will get the threads up.
Anyway the guy who wants to know what to do to his 1.1. zaust and induction kit upgrade pads and discs some nice alloys and decent tyres. more for the look then speed but there will be a lil difference.
Why is it that everyone seems to think that a 1.1 has no room for improvement. the 1.6 engines are already at the limits in breathing mods as the zaust and air box are not as restrictive as the 1.1 model so there is not much gaind by changing them for aftermarket ones whereas the 1.1 models gain allot. it's still only 10 15 brake but that like a 25% increase in power whereas 15 brake on a vts is like 15% increase ruffly.

Because it hasnt got any room engine wise unless you throw big £££ at it.
Why do you think people to go vtr/s etc.

not saying people should try make them 120brake but by doing cheap brathing mods or other little things you can gain some power. the graph that i put up is the 3rd run and on first run it got 63 ish 2nd run 67ish and then 3rd 69.4 so was still going up.
Getting a 1.1 to 80 brake with basic mods on less then £500 is possible but why when £150-£300 for 70-75 bhp. obviously not worth it just for the power but if you want a zaust for the sound\look and induction for the same reason then why not have 10-15 bhp aswell.

I am just saying you can add power to them if you want. It isnt hopeless

When you move onto a bigger engine you will soon relise that its a waste.
jus sayin

i understand that larger engine = more torque so will be quicker then a smaller engine that has been moded to ruffly same brake but if you wana have a little more power in a small engine cant see why cheap brethers would be over the top.
i have only spent £60 on my mods. came wid zaust and other cosmetic stuff. So not like £60 going to add much on a 1.6 conversion.
