2 things wanting help on

    Right baught new saxo VTR 2 weeks ago its going on the road next week. a mate told me first thing u want to be doing is getting uprated engine mounts? is this true and why? also ive been looking into quikshift how easy are they to install? and how much difference would that make etc?

    Engine mounts are a good modification but it's not #1 on the list and to be honest it is often a forgotten mod that people can do.

    Depends how good you are with tools, it can be fiddly. Garage would do it under an hour no probs. The difference is like 0.1 of a second in gear changes, nothing fantastic but it's a gain.

    uprated engine mounts support the engine better for cornering, acceleration and braking.
    You might not gain 'performance' but it can make a car feel more predicable and surefooted.

    ive just fitted new engine mounts cant wait to take it for a quick blast

    also polybushing the suspension made a huge difference imo

    if i was to start modifying my vts from scratch all over again id invest in good suspension/brakes/tires/engine mounts/gear linkages this stuff makes a maassive difference

    cheerz guys. Megga help. Will order new engine mounts and poly bushes. No roughly prices? And where to get them from?

    2 things i'd do 1st and, probably only consider doing if i started again...

    - suspension kit (good dampers and springs), better gains than any breathing mod - adds loads of speed through corners because you don't feel like you're going to bin it.

    - decat manifold - your car is a mk2 so you can decat it and increase the exhaust flow 4 fold just by fitting a mani, should give 5-10bhp and give a real/true cheap gain rather than an induction kit or cat back zaust that will do virtually nothing.

    you could get away with those two mods on just under £400.

    Dampers are your next port of call then - with the right spring of course.

    If your mates so into handling he should know a damper kit will make a much bigger difference than the engine mount, probably than any other suspension component.

    If on a budget, cant go wrong with a spax or apex kit at around £200

    No problem, ive got the Apex kit on mine and can vouch for its quality, also know AlexB rated the kit for how much it cost.

    Completely transformed the car for £200 one of the best value money for mods you can possibly do, obviously you have the added advantage of increasing the looks too which for some people is the only reason for doing it lol

    they should have 'AlexB approved' stamped on the box
