My Nissan Silvia S15 Spec R

    Morning homos!

After just over a month of waiting I have now got the car I've wanted for years!. I saw it advertised on JM Imports while it was still in Japan and put a deposit on it the weekend after I saw the advert.f

The first time I went to have a look at it there was a noise coming from the gearbox which Jurgen thought might be helped with a new clutch so out came the uprated one, which turned out to be Nismo, and in went a new standard clutch. This seems to have sorted the noise, although I'm certain it was the input shaft so it will probably come back again.

It's got Rays Nismo LMGT4 wheels, Apexi exhaust, Apexi filter, Bride driver's seat, front and rear Nismo strut braces and another brace in the boot. HKS turbo timer and a nice Japanese lady that speaks to me when I turn the car on.

    Here are the photos:

Before they took the clutch out

    Underside:

    Engine Bay:

The only photos I have of it at the moment.

I have absolutely no plans for this as I love it just how it is now!

I will be having it on Dynapacks next week so I can see what power it's making.

    Its a beut.

    Want...

    Very nice Tom Looks lovely.

If I had to do one thing it would be lower it a little.. But that's it
  5. #5
    Cheers Danny

Yeah I wouldn't mind it being a bit lower but insurance said they will only allow a maximum of 5cm lowered. Not that I can ever find a standard one to compare, but I won't risk it.
  6. #6
Fair play that looks bloody awesome! Looks super clean - very nice find.

    Silvia type-r?

Looks nice, very nice. White really suits it. What boost is it running? if its standard should be able to turn it up to 1.1 bar i'd imagine.

is that a bodykit aswell? what mods have been done to it?
  12. #12
    Fucking gorgeous Tom.
How did you convince your parents?

You coming to York Raceway with it next Bank holiday weekend?
  13. #13
No convincing necessary. Told me Dad I was getting a car from Japan, fuck all he could do about it. He likes it so all is good.

    Probably not.

It's not on standard boost I don't think. I'll find out next weekend. I don't want to up the boost yet though, I'll kill myself. Already had a few moments in it!

Haha, that's quite funny actually. I would only ever own one with that bumper on it. Worth a considerable number of hundreds as well! I hope I never break it
  20. #20
You should put a s14a front end on it Trolololol

Me too, I want that car soooo bad! You should get that bumper though

Sounds like everyone had good fun today
  25. #25
If I had to get another bumper then I would probably go for one like that, unless I found another aero bumper for "cheap".

Today was a good laugh despite the weather

    Cheers Droo!

As I said on Facebook, I have the standard spoiler in my room so when I get another bootlid I'll get that ready to go. Thinking of having a fully standard boot with all the badges etc and this smoothed one. Just swap between the two as and when!
  28. #28
    Winning. Love it.

Cheers Kitlad. Hadn't thought I would have one this soon actually, but I had the opportunity and wasn't going to miss it.

When the weather gets better I'll be getting my dual action on it! Got a few swirls I want rid of.

Kept this quiet Ghomas. Looks smart, albeit i'm not keen on the front bumper.

Very tidy though. You say there's no plans, but we all know that will change We've both joined the JDM import crew now then Even if mine is a bit gay

Pffft, who cant? Im meaning the mx5 I had anyway, hardest car to learn in. If you have the balls you can drift the evo, i was spinning about on the grass before anyone showed up haha

Wow! That is beautiful! :o Only thing id do with it, is slap a wing on the back. Big or small, looks odd without one IMO!

Aye I did a good job of not shouting about it. lol

It's interesting seeing the people that don't like the aero bumper. You're all wrong

Might be gay but I like MX5s! Especially when you get nice wide wheels on the back! Preferably Rota Grids like Tom has got on his.

I forgot you had an MXhomo!! Did you do much drifting in it?

Grass is the only way you can drift an Evo really. lol. Doughnuts will be easy in it though I assume?

I'm ordering my Grid V's tomorrow Bronze too. Although i'm going for 7j, not 8. I want to keep it usable. But they still look awesome with 7j, i've done my research.

On the topic of s15's, my mate has got a silver/gunmetal-ish coloured one. Uses it for drifting, it's unreal how he spent so much on a car to learn drifting in lol. And he can drift properly now as well. But he doesn't boast about it. Top lad, top car.
  44. #44
I love how sleek these look de-spoilered.

Very nice car Mr Viper, much better than the Fiesta, plus if it drives anything like an S14a then skidding will be ridiculously easy
  45. #45
I'd love to be able to properly drift it but don't have anywhere to practice it enough to learn properly.

Bronze alloys are the only colour to have on those MX5s! I'ma watch your thread to see how awesome it looks with them on

Oooh I forgot you had an S14! What power did you get out of yours?
  46. #46
    looks well nice
  47. #47
Hope you have as much fun in yours as I had in my s14 mate. Amazing cars but like to bite back. Get the centre strut removed from the spoiler before you have it fitted looks so much cleaner.
  48. #48
Get some spare wheels and head to a DWYB day, best way to learn IMO.

No risk of getting some trouble from the police that way, although I found they tend to enjoy seeing a nice controlled skid on an empty roundabout..
  49. #49
Sooooo wrong as per usual Gay guy... Evo's drift well mate, just gotta have balls, its not a straight 50/50 split with the power, set it on gravel and away you go haha

Regards to the mx5, I drifted it to the point where I started to drift it in the dry all the time, 3 sets of tyres in 5 weeks haha

I'm very reluctant to go playing in it on a track. I'm paranoid about damaging the bumper. Could be tempted to get hold of a standard one and put that on for it though.

Also I want to have a go on a large open area before going on a track. Less stuff to hit when I get it wrong!
  51. #51
Oh yeah I would be too, but I'm sure at places like Santa Pod etc they have massive open spaces? Not too sure tbh.

But I'd be the same as you, I wouldn't want any marks on any of it. I'm the same with mine and it's only a standard CTR haha

Go see the lads at K-T-C ( keighley trade centre) They use to import about 50 s14's and the odd s15 a year they don't import full cars so much any more but can pretty much get any parts you want for them shipped from japan. Good lads but you have to haggle with them.
  53. #53
Pod or Teesside are probably your best bet for doing skids. Pod's a massive long drive, but Teesside's a karting track, nowt to hit really though unless you go retard spec wrong, apart from a few cones.

Or Crail, if you wanna go t'other way.
  54. #54

Hmm, there isn't actually that much room at Teesside from what I've heard! Also it's amazing the damage a cone can do. Lol

I would never to a drift day as my first time. Although I'm not going to learn it on the roads either. I'll come up with something. Lol

Where's Crail Drew? Cba to look on a map. I only know the main places in Scroteland.

The S14a was RR'd at 296bhp with a boost leak, so it was over 300.

    Complete animal.

P.s. it wasn't mine, I just drove it a lot haha! I wish it had been mine though!

    Nice Tommy,

My mate has an s15 project at the moment...

he's owned a fair few of them he loves them!

Currently working on a stroker kitted s14 lump which will be insane..

He has shit loads of new un-opened parts for an s15 which have been stored until the cars ready..

If you need any bits give me a shout and he may be of use to ya!

If you hit anything at Teesside, you're doing something drastically wrong. Yeah, you might end up on the grass, but that ain't gonna do owt.

As for cones, meh, a little scuff on the bumper at most, should polish out. (Or a brokened splitter in my case, somehow). But, the simple case there, is to just keep away, rather than trying to clip them, haha.
  70. #70

Just tell the insurance company it is at standard ride height! Then you can lower it another 50mm.

Also, I'd swap the 406 rear lights.

Proper car porn. Still rare as fuck on the roads. I reckon you'll get alot of people asking "Is it an S14 with a front end?" lol

I will have one of these one day!
  76. #76
The only thing I get asked is "how much did you pay for it?". From now on I'm lying.

Going to tell people I bought a mystery container at the docks for £2,000 and it had the car in it.

Josh, the rear lights stay! I was really happy it had these on
  77. #77
I know what you payed for it, swap you the evo?
  78. #78
needs lowering with bright blue vts wheels
  79. #79
Just had a look on eGay and the general prices seem to be around £10,000. What made you go for one of these over something like a DC5?
  80. #80
DC5 lacks boost and RWD! Also I just think a full aero S15 is gorgeous

I gave it a proper drive on the way home and fuck me it's quick! I can't wait for the dyno this weekend.

i have heard this, but also they are the most accurate readings compared to rolling roads.
    who knows
  91. #91
My mate Maxwell has one of the fastest RS's in Scotland, maybe even the UK and his shredded his diff to bits
  92. #92
I don't see how though. It shouldn't affect the diff any more than driving/rolling road should it?

Surely the power is being put through the diff as normal and there's less resistance on a dynapack than rollers.
  93. #93
nice 15! only read the first page but why the hell would you want scabby 14a lights on a 15?!!?
  94. #94
    I don't?

edit: Just double checked the first page. If you're referring to MiniGibbo, he was taking the piss
  95. #95
    Wash it you c**t.
  96. #96
I washed it the day before Bolton Abbey!!

    It just likes burning petrol
  97. #97
burning fuel sideways like a boss
  98. #98
You have movement on rollers, if you watch the car it will move a good few inches with acceleration, when on the dynopack thongs there's is no movement atall

244 at the wheels but its running lean so I need to get that sorted!
  101. #101
Thats a pretty good result if its running lean. Should be able to reach 300 atw no problem with a proper mapping session.
  102. #102
Yeah it should make better power when it's running right. I'm more bothered about getting it healthy than pub bragging figures though

The translation means something along the lines of "Please insert your automatic toll card"

    Ahh so Bansaikamikaze samurai sushi?

Cool. When do I get to testdrive it for poisons?

    Gladiator style.

Wow, impressive. Thats not the standard body kit though right? The S15's look lovely in normal form, but I dont like the look of the kit thats on it.

Whats it like to drive? MPG? I bet youre chuffed!
  108. #108
    Lean is bad

Did they suggest a reason as to why it's running lean?

Edit- you sure it's not rich? Rich would make your bumper black.. Lean shouldn't really??

It's not an aftermarket kit, it's the optional Aero package

It's awesome to drive. Endless power and feels great. Decent MPG is possible. I did York to Fleet in half a tank.

Lol it's definitely lean. I was expecting it to be rich, as you said, judging by the rear bumper.

It will be running lean because the boost had been turned up and it won't have been mapped for it.

    Your car is sick.

Im jealous and i hate you.

Ass must be stinging from the insurance though im guessing? No nothing of these cars engine size, bhp etc but any import with an engine that big must cost a shit load

Well he said it's getting 244 at the wheels.

There are various models but this is 2.0L Turbo I think by reading his posts...
  112. #112

sounds like there should be plenty more to come then

As above it's a 2l Turbo. Insurance is fine. About what I expected really.

    safest way

who you choosing for the mapping? planning on anymore boost? this will have a ball bearing t28 on yeah?

always like these..like s13's..not a fan of s14s so much..and like these too
  116. #116
Not sure if it's BB or not as they were swapped at one point of manufacture. Not certain what I've got on.

Mapping will most likely be RDT in Doncaster where I had it on the dyno.

The mechanic I use will suggest Motorscope in
Northallerton but I didnt rate them much last time I was there.

Not chasing power yet. It has more than enough. Any more is pointless

Its not at the wheels, but at the hubs, so no losses apparantley.

yeah it should be pretty mean as it tbh with that power

ive heard alot of conflicting info about motorscope..i personally wouldnt use them like lol

what about rs tuning? seem to get very highly spoken of these days and not too far from you either?

Eh? What are you on about. I know why dyna packs are better, that's why I used them.

I was questioning why Drew said its bad for your diff.

Don't know much about RS Tuning. Don't know anyone who has used them a lot.
  120. #120
lots on here would rate them

but if your guy is close and and you know hes good then just go with him, keeps things nice and simple
  121. #121
You said the power is at the wheels, it isn't. It is at the hubs.

Wheel power will actually be a bit less.
  122. #122
    Double post.

So what's next for the S15 Viper?

Nothing. Once I have it properly mapped I'll be happy with it.

Maybe a new head unit but that's it!

    Bump.

    Been mapped yet?

Nah not yet. Not done too much in the way of diagnosing it; especially with all the shit weather. It'll most likely be locked away for the winter soon.

I've already been a man. Circled a few mini roundabouts.

I did a wonderful impromptu burnout at the Bolton Abbey meet too. I think you had gone ahead though so missed it. Smiith certainly didn't miss it as I covered his car with gravel

  133. #133
Really need to have this mapped as it'll be coking up more and more with every mile an will result in a ruined engine...

Seems a bit well quite a lot down on power for the spec too..?
  134. #134
nice, first decent pics of it, any more pics or is it tucked away now?

I'm tempted to get two boot lids. Keep this smoothed one and get a 2nd one to put a new spoiler on.

New goodies will be put on in the new year.

Yeah the Supra was gorgeous! He designed the bonnet vents himself and had them cut out, looked fantastic.

Some prick in a BMW smashed into the back of him last year though He had to get rid of it but he's got an aero top now
