4500rpm new idle speed

  1. #1
i know it's been asked before but i can't remeber what to do to fix it nor can i find the thread.

It was running fine until i had to recharge the battery. I've charged it put it back and when i start it now it jumps straight up to 4500rpm. I can drive it fine as well.

I also have a cable with a blue plastic end on with nothing plugged into it. I don't know if thats the abs wire, which i don't have or something else.

    Thanks in advance.

So I've just been out to find out if it's the map sensor and it started up normally. I've done nothing to it.

Might of shrugged its shoulders at the stripes on the bonnet. Its got over it and decided it will carry on as normal?

No idea. The guy i bought it off did say it needed a new map sensor but i haven't had any problems with it until now though.

A little while ago someone on here had the same problem after a battery change/charge & was told to take it for a run because the ecu needs to initialise itself again.

The high tickover rpm would just be the engine trying to get charge back into the battery faster

You might need to initialize the icv again. Turn the key to accesories and off again. and you will hear a noise. This needs doing 7 times iirc
