I've not long had my car, its a saxo spree 1.1. When i first drove the car it was a hot day but seemed to notice that the fan on the radiator wasn't kicking in. Checked the fuse and it had blown so we wired up the fan directly and it came on until the fuse blew again (not sure how long this lasted as when i arrived at my destination i looked under the bonnet and found the fuse had blown), so i changed the thermo switch but its still blowing the fuse every time it tries to turn on, could someone please help, maybe wrong type of fuse? think its a 30amp fuse i've got for the fan but i'll have to double check. Your help will be much appreciated.

#3thanks for the reply, helpful link, cheers. i was wondering i am meant to be travelling up to birmingham today which is just over an hour away from here, would it be okay to drive without it overheating? maybe if i keep the heaters on inside. cheers

#4It won't overheat if your constantly moving - I E the motorway.
Just if you hit bad traffic - with alot of stop start - it may get abit hot.
Will just have to pull over and turn it off if it get's too high!

#5cheers for your help, i've just looked under the bonnet and i forgot to mention i think the previous owners have messed with the wiring underneath, i'll see if i can get a pic up on here for you to see

#6Sound - put a pic up

#7do you know how to put a pic up on here from your computer?? sorry if i sound dumb lol
-
#8and i've just noticed looking at the fuse table, the fuse in F5 is 20amps in my car instead of 30amp, would this cause the other fuse to blow??
-
#9www.imageshack.us then upload your picture - then copy and paste the forum IMG code here..
And It shouldn't do - but i'd change it to what it's supposed to be

#10Here is the pic mate, as you can see there is a fuse on its own wired up to the fan outside of the box which contains all the other fuses, this is the fuse that keeps blowing.

#12Quite open to water aren't they!
I'd check all wiring - might not be best of connections - then tape it all up.
sorry for late reply - been out all day

#13Just a thought run 2 lengths of wire 1 to + & 1 to the - of your fan then connect up to your battery.I`ve got an idea that your fan motor may either be sticking or dead. This would make the fuse blow.By connecting up the fan with the 2 lengths of wire you`ll be able to see if its working or not.If the fan doesn`t spin then check the wires you`re using for good connections. If it still doesn`t spin then the problem lies with the fan.

#14Cheers for helping people
we have wired up the fan directly and it did spin, i'm thinking now that actually i left the fan connected directly up for my journey to birmingham about a month or so ago and when i arrived the fan had stopped so maybe the fan has seized up?? took the car to my uncles today and he was wondering if anyone had the layout to how the fan should be wired up, the original way, as he thinks they've made a complete mess of it, he would try wiring it up the original way then. If anyone does have a diagram of the wiring to the fan i would be very grateful. thank you
