98 saxo vtr 0-60

  1. #1
    Hi
I recently bought a 98 vtr and today did a few runs to test acceleration. I looked online and it sayed 10 seconds, yet with me and 2 friends in the car I was getting times between 7 & 7.5 seconds. The car doesnt have any visible mods Bar a k&n air filter and sportex backbox. Does anyone else seem to get these times and was the website mis-informed?
    Cheers

    Was you using a stopwatch?

    Did you change into third?
  3. #3
    lol.............
  4. #4
I think you have a very forgiving stop watch finger
  5. #5
    Using a stopwatch yh.
And not it gets to around 63 in 2nd. Doesnt drop off the power though hence keeping it in 2nd

That's why im asking. Didnt really think a vtr was as fast as this.
Dont really see why it has to be a "loooooooooool"
Only saying what it does. I wanted to see if anyone had done internal mods and got same sort of time. Really didnt feel standard though. And like you said not like an 8v

A stop watch is as good as counting in your head when it comes to 0-60 times.

    Your speedo isnt accurate.

You 8v dosent go 60 in second. Its a forum joke about people getting 60 in 2nd.

8v power does start to drop off at the top end of the rev range.

Many people come on and say exactly the same thing as you, but your car is probably standard.

clocks are over reading alot is you prob

Change into third to hit 62 like book figures are timed to.

Count the knots in a piece of rope next time, it's just as accurate.

0-60 must be what 3 seconds, give or take 7 seconds.

Isnt there an app for this sort of thing - never had a chance to use them but surely better than a stopwatch

^ yeh there is, not sure how good they are though, the OBDII ones work well but not sure what the saxo has/dosnt have PS my vtr hits the hard cut limiter at 65mph in second

Why not? Just hit the limiter for 5 seconds or so while you check the gps?

Ok so I am willing to concede that the 7.5 time was inaccurate. But not by much. My average across the 4 apps I downloaded was 8.6. I used drag timer, ulysse speedometer. Speed-checker. Cant remember 4th atm but yh 8.6 is my average

Cheers for the tip got a few apps for 0-60 times. Payed for few so I hope they accurate. Got drag timer, ulysse Speedo, speed clock and something else. I will concede on my 7.5 second claim as this has now been proven wrong. My average across these apps was 8.6 which is still a little quick but not so unrealistic I think. I did change into third around 60 this time but only because I went onto 70 to make sure I took into account any inaccuracy on the speedo as I could look at phone whilst doing this.
