Pugsport on a flatty

  1. #1
I've got a mk1 flatty. My exhaust already sounds pretty nice as it has just a cat and a backbox, no middle silencer, not sure if this is normal haha. But I want to get a new backbox to give it more rasp and I'm looking for something stainless steel.
I was thinking a pugsport as I don't have a recess in my rear bumper I believe it sits low enough to fit under a flat arch bumper. Anybody know if this is true?
Any advice on whether a pugsport, kam racing backbox or a supersprint back box is the best, want something small (2") but rasppppyyy

it would probably actually need lifting slightly to suit a flatty but i have a pugsport on my vtr with a modded rear bumper

Is that due to the shorter rear bumper on the flatty?
Have you got an idea of what would be a straight fit on?

Will hang too low fit a saxsport the one designed for a saxo, I've got a piper back box on my sax from a 106 but as Alex said my recess is smoothed off, also the pugsport/saxsport back box dosent fit to a OEM centerpipe without modification, they're designed to only been used with its own center pipe

Cheers for the advice! I'm after just a backbox ideally, as i presume the centre pipe is a de-cat pipe, as my cat is not in the mani.
Would you say a kam racing backbox would be a good buy?

the kamracing and supersprint will both fit on to your pipe, im sure you can get saxpsorts that are cat back, wont be many around though as nobody really wants them lol

Will the kamracing and supersprint fit under my rear bumper or will it need cutting?

How can a Supersprint sound awesome on a 1.1?

I really wish you would stop saying that john. You've been saying that for about 3.5 years!

Tipsy on here had one fitted without a centre box on a cammed 16v, THAT sounded awesome, not yours on a shitty 1.1

Wish all you want that was my opinion! sounded awesome for what it was, a 2" box then the norm 3" boxs people ran on there cars locally.

I know i have and always will.

And dude, what a silly comment! maybe the op should buy a mini!

Loud exhausts on slow cars sound terrible

They're not even that great on quick cars tbh.. But some do suit

But when you see 1.1 Saxos and 1.2 clios etc with loud exhausts it just makes you want to cringe... Hear them go through the box at full pelt and turn round to see them tootling along with the rest of the traffic in the 30 zone...

You are walking down the road minding your own business when you hear this stupidly loud car go past, you turn round to see it's a 1.1....such an anticlimax.

Haha ok but at the moment i've only got a 1.1 to work with, due to the high insurance on anything quicker, so I just want to make the most of it.
I was thinking about a pugsport as I want to get a 106 rallye for my next car and I could just transfer it over, don't worry I'm not a chav

Isit worth spending any money on it? Not worth just waiting for a year till you have some NCB and look at getting something a little more worthwhile? Like the 1.5D or something.. (That was a joke lol). But seriously, why bother wasting your money? Just wait till you can afford to insure something a little more worthwhile. Everyone just cringes at people with loud exhausts on anything that isn't Jap or Turbo'd tbh lol.
