Ecu's

Im prob gonna be shot down but ecus with switchable maps, 1 are they available and 2 do you have to restart the car when switching the map over???

Asking this because thinking about a launch control system (kinda of) by when i put it into first it pushes a switch setting it to a gentler map thus allowing more of a launch and when out of first switch not pressed and allowing savage map for full power... Is it possible like that dont want the wheel speed sensors and traction control as such, has anyone done this?

    Thanks in advance

Just don't put your foot down as much.

Launch control doesn't work that way either, I'd have a read up on google first. It is possible to have switchable maps on a single ECU. But I doubt it on Magneti Marelli.

    are you on standard ecu?
how much power do you have to be breaking traction like that?
do you even understand what your asking?

youd need a very clever ecu to know.what gear your in and change the map to suit
id just suggest a day at the drag strip learning to launch and have some restraint with your right foot off the mark

Couldnt agree more, just go easier on the foot,
It would cost a fortune for very little difference.
Is the car a standard VTR or has it had anything done to it?
Just go easier on your right foot as said before though, buy a good set of rubbers and you'll probly save money from not spinning constantly.

Its for racing controled tyres yoko y048r med compound, 125ish brake and a vrry clever ecu is not needed just a switch in first to tell to go to map 2 smooth map for a launch and when outta first to switch to the normal savage map...

yea but to switch map on the actual ecu needs a clever ecu
its not something you can just wire in a swith on the standard unit
or even like an emerald or omex 600 or 710 your looking at very expensive ecu to have several maps stored and then an in car switch to swap them its not a simple setup and definatly not doable on a standard ecu

just learn to modulate your foot to limit the spin
with a048s a diff and 125hp you should be able to launch pretty fucking hard anyway without much spin unless you use the throttle like an on off switch

I think he means he only wants 2/3 variable maps.

Am i right in thinking you basically want a rev limiter for when the clutch is depressed, Map 1 when in first and map 2 for the rest of the gears?

If so then thats not a hard thing to do on an emerald/omex

not really a rev limiter otherwise hed be asking about like omex launch control wire in jobbies

from my understanding he wants something pysical on the gearstick to swap the ecu to a totally different map with less power for launching

    maybe ive got it wrong

still launching on semi slicks with 125hp isnt hard
i can get my 180+hp 106 off the mark with minimal spin on r888s so he shouldnt struggle much tbh

You wouldn't need it with that power

Throttle control an common sense is all you need

Yea.... he wants a map for 1st and another map for the rest of the rev range, he could mount a button on the wheel that allows map 1 when pressed and release it after he changes gear.

But yea 125hp shouldnt be slipping

What your after is more then poss

But, if your needing a mild map for launching before an advanced map for 125bhp, there's something wrong with your driving style mate

    Haha this is true!

I think it may be possible to put 2 on the standard ecu, im not sure how well it would cope with swapping them mid running though
